Hi all ... just wanted to say ...
Hello,
Just wanted to say I just joined this group, and wish I had known about this site before.
I lost my Chow Chow "Ebony" last week. She was diagnosed with stomach cancer and was only 11 1/2 years young. The last four years of her life she suffered from seizures, but those were under control for a few years now. The cancer was a shock!
I miss her so much, and letting her go was one of the most hardest things I have ever had to do in my life...
I have truly enjoyed all your stories and pictures of all your Chows ... made me actually smile today, although at the same time I shed a tear or two ...
Thanks all & hug your puppies for me and Ebony

Hi and welcome to the site. I'm sorry for your loss. I have had two now that have had stomach cancer. It turns out that Chows and Akitas are 10-20% more inclined to get this cancer than most other dogs, and the age is between 5-11 years. The truly horrible thing is that it is virtually undetectable before the symptoms of ill health show up and by then there's not much that can be done.
Hopefully your vet told you all that; I know it's easy to feel guilty about it. But this is one of those times when it is truly in someone elses hands.

So sorry for your loss. I've lost 2 within the last year. Browse around and get familiar ! The site helps immensely with the grieving process. No one understands a Chow, except another Chow owner.
I really miss my purple kisses!!! RIP Bear, my bestest friend EVER !!

I'm so sorry to hear of Ebony's passing.
Many of us have chows that have crossed over the rainbow bridge. Many of us also like to believe that they have found each other and are happy in chow chow land.
Welcome, I'm glad you have joined the site.

She has a photogenic memory...really!
Thank you all for your blessings ...
Victory, it is awful. I had no idea, she just quit eating one day. Just like that. I also had no idea about the percentage rate of the Chow and Akita and cancer. I felt so terrible after the Endoscopy/Biopsy was done. I have had two chows now. My first "Tone Tone" lived 14 years, a very happy long life, and I had to let him go when his discs slipped in his back and he could no longer walk.
It took me a long time to get another Chow Chow.
In time ... right now it is still very hard.
I would also love to share pictures of my Ebony, but I have no idea how to. Can anyone help?
Thank you all again, VERY much.

How beautiful was your Ebony. I am glad she is able to hook up with our kids at the bridge. They'll have a great time, and will have millions of stories to tell and zoomies to do when we next meet up with them.
Ebony is in the best of hands, you can be sure.
Now, I know Ebony hopes that you memories of him are good, and hopes that you will share your bountiful love with another lucky chow some day.
Welcome to our world. You are already a part of us.
