Ohhhh...as we say here in the south...I would have had to 'show my arse' on that one. What a crock. I wonder if there is any kind of vet board...like the bar association...that you could raise a complaint with. Did your vet refer you to this one? If so I would certainly let my vet know what happened...

Well I'm not a huge Ellen fan and yeah she should have read the contract and called the agency...butttttttt...there are a gazillion animals that need homes and their policy of not adopting to families with children under the age of 14 seems ridiculous to me. Little kids would make more sense to me. ...

You can read their minds...OH NO MEAN VICIOUS DOG! People who know what kind of dog it is actually have...

I too would have taken him in on Monday but hindsight is 20/20 and I'm sure they blame themselves. I actually had a chow survive parvo many many years ago. We were in Alaska for a wedding and had a friend staying with the dogs in Texas. Well I call to check on them and the friend says hey is it norm...

My Shug says the colder the better. He lays on the AC vent everytime it's on. If AC is off he lays on the fireplace. It is brick and I guess the 2nd coolest place in the house. I live in the south and it rarely gets really cold here so the AC runs alot. Shug is also 17 weeks old and can make it thro...

I had two male chows once...raised together (3 mos apart in age) and they fought. I got them fixed and it didn't help. It started out mild ( no injuries ) and maybe twice a year and progressed to the point that they had to be separated at all times byt the time they were 7 yrs old. One was in house ...

I feed dry food mainly but I do a couple of tablespoons of canned food almost everyday as well. He loves it...it's like a special treat. If I give him people food...meat of some sort...then I skip the canned. Just adding in a little variety and flavor to the same ole same ole.

"Why do people adopt Chows/Dogs then want to keep them out side, are they supposed to be a lawn ornament." Very good question. I had a neighbor before we bought this house who owned a yellow lab mix and it lived in the back yard 24/7 365 days a year regardless of the weather. It drove me i...

I'm no expert here but I have had chows my entire adult life and I have read alot about the breed long before I ever found this forum and I agree with the folks here. Chows will not put up with bull****. She has already bit him and she is just a baby. When she grows up she will hurt him seriously. C...

I was wondering about this as well. My Shug is a cinnamon but he does have pink in his mouth. Not on his tongue but in his mouth around his lower teeth for example. HOw destructive is he? I left Shug in the bathroom while I was at work. Luckily he didn't see the cabinets or anything else in there as chew toys. He never pottied in there either but if yours can't hold it you can buy those potty pads at Petsmart. I think he slept most of the time I was gone or pla...

My pup sleeps directly on top of the air conditioning vent. I've never had a chow that would use a dog bed or even take a snooze on the couch. Cool tile or AC vents are the most popular choices for mine.

Help...new puppy doesn't like us

Ok I decided to get a female chow as a companion for my Shug instead of a bulldog. I bought her from a breeder in Oregon and she flew in last night. She is 3 months old, beautiful and bigger then Shug even though they are the same age. She was supposedly raised in the house with the breeders and has...
