My Chow Chows
I need to hunt out a few pics so this post will be updated again in the next few days.
Just wanted to post a pic of Simba. He was our first Chow (red rough) and we had to have him pts earlier this year - he was 11 years old.
We now have Leo - a rough black chow - 7 years old. (Pic to follow!)
And of course Alfie (see my avatar) - our 9 week old rough red. (Who doesn't keep still long enough to have his photo taken at the moment!! Lol. - I'll try and catch him later when he's calmed down!)
EDIT [16/8] : Gosh, I completely forgot about this thread after promising to update it! I've got some more pics of little Alfie and I still need to dig out some pics of Leo.

Simba was beautiful and reminds me of my 1st who's name was Mozart aka MoMo.
Actually he was my 1st dog ever...can you imagine having a chow for a 1st dog and thinking that he was a "normal" dog...Haha!!
Mo went to the Rainbow Bridge when he was a few weeks shy of 5 yrs old and I rescued him when he was 4 months old...he was such a lovable character.
Looking forward to seeing the pics of your new baby chowlet.

Laura, Simba was indeed a very beautiful Chow boy.
And congratulations on your new addition - he's a cutie. My Magda is 11 weeks old today. Imagine trying to photograph a scurrying little black ball of fur. All I'm getting are black splotches and streaks.
So many new little Chow babies! This is wonderful.

Yes, he was very handsome wasn't he? Leo is a bit more scraggy - lol!
It was a real shame for Simba. At 11 he was still quite young mentally but he had severe athritis in his back legs (hips and knees). He'd had several operations but eventually they were so bad that he couldn't even stand up. On his last day, we had to hand feed him and he drank from a syringe
He had a good life with us though.
Here's a pic of me and Sim - this is more recent - about a year ago.

Oh Laura, I'm so sorry to hear about Simba. He looks like kin og the jungle & what a pose. How handsome. His coloring is nice & dark, you rarely see that. Simba is so precious.
Fidel: all of the chows I've had/have, I've never had one who loves to stretch out & put their legs behind them...until Irish came along. I thinks it's so adorable.
I've seen the pups like Simba do it, but they tend to grow out of it. Irish sleeps on his back at nite with his legs
(front & rear) leaning on the chest at the foot of our bed. I gotup in the middle of the nite & saw him like that & just giggled to myself. I guess it's comfortable for them, although it doesn't look so to me.

Simba was indeed gorgeous and obviously well loved. Alfie is a cutie and I would love to see pictures of Leo, it is so hard to photograph the blacks, but if you turn all the lights on, so that they are surrounded by light you can get some pretty good picturesl, (even though the eyes will glow)

Thank you SweetPea!
