Re: In Remembrance of Alf (Layla's Alfonse)
I am so sorry to hear this. I have loved Alf from when I first saw the video of his litter on you tube, not even knowing who he was. He was full of life from the very beginning and touched my heart. I have tears running down my face as I type, and I never even met the little sweetheart in person. How heartbreaking this must be for you Layla, Millie and Pete. You have my prayers and sympathy.
Run free sweet Alfonse and know that you are still loved and not forgotten.
I know I have offered these words often, but they have comforted me and I hope they can do the same for you:
Last Night
I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peek.
I could see that you were crying; you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be near you every day.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over...I smile and watch you yawning
And say, "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

Re: In Remembrance of Alf (Layla's Alfonse)
Thank you all who posted about my baby boy. It brings me comfort that he was so widely loved & appreciated. Poor Millie is being smothered with affection at the moment, she's doing far better than us. For that, I am glad.
Thank you Elodie!

Re: In Remembrance of Alf (Layla's Alfonse)
i am so sorry for your loss.
(being new) i went back and searched and read all through what happened and what you did for him. somehow he knew you tried, and loved you even more (if that is possible) for caring that much for him. you are special people for doing what you did for him, and he knew it.

What a lovely tribute Lou!
Yes as Cindy said, I think we all felt like Alf was one of our own.
He was such a gorgeous creature and his soul shined through in his photos.
Hugs,
Roxana & Neelaa

Re: In Remembrance of Alf (Layla's Alfonse)
I`m so sorry for your loss. Your Alf looks so much like my sweet 9yo Bear girl. I now have a 4mo cream boy, Bo, to keep her company. To me there are no chows as beautiful as the black ones, My sweet Honey Bear looks just like your Alf and I couldn't help but feel your pain looking at the pictures. I hate looking through the memorial section but I`m drawn to it at times and my heart really go`s out to the people who have lost their beloved babies.
