Just curious about the ratio of Chow colors. I suspect Red is the most common, but we seem to be getting many black pups here of late.

I really thought that you were right and red and variations of red would be the most common.

You can tell just by the pictures that there are more blacks, most of the puppies lately have been black.

One black,one red here and their litter earlier this year was 2 black and one blue.Hazzard's brother living with my ex is blue.

I didn't put any in the poll since I have such a variety of colors .. *L* .. I mean, it wouldn't be fair to play favorites!

Boogie is black and I am not sure if our foster chow, Teddie, is red or cinnamon. I guess I am not sure what the difference is. In pictures he looks red but I would say he is more light brown in person so I guess that would be cinnamon. He does have a black streak on his tail which is kind of different.

I answered red since I have two of them and only one black. I've noticed lately that Ping's muzzle (normally all black) is slowly losing its blackness.

It's easiest to tell a cinnamon and a red when you have them side by side. Photos can be so deceptive, too - I have photos of Kylee where she looks very red, but she is all cinnamon.

As she's aged, she's developed a dark stripe down her back and the pigment in her mouth and around her eyes has faded considerably.

Good example of a Cinnamon, Melanie. I have always refered to Lily as a cream, but think she is more a cinnamon. The confusion is her undercoat is true cream, and she never had a mask when she was a wee pup, as most cinnamons do.

I love Steel's colour. Can't believe there's only 10% blue so far. I guess I gotta get me a blue chow to even out the stats.

ONE BEAUTIFUL SWEET LIL'BLACK SOUTHERN GIRL!!!But I'll second that one on getting a BLUE ONE to even it out, If I do a good job raising Kearra I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a Blue to go with her!!!!
