Help! I just adopted a chow chow mix and he’s only 10 weeks old. He seems to have taken to me as his “person” and has not shown any aggression towards me at all. When my husband comes near to pet him, he immediately cowers and pees. When my children (5 and 2) come near me and he’s in my lap or nearby, he jumps up, growls, barks and attacks, usually biting in the face. He does the usually puppy play nips, but these times are different and aggressive. I don’t know how to stop this. I’ve tried continuously socializing him with the kids, teaching them how to approach (slowly and from the front), and not to go near his food. He seems to do well when outside or on the floor. It’s just when he’s on the couch or bed with me specifically. He seems territorial of me. How do I teach him that he’s bottom of the totem pole when it comes to the kids?
