9 Y/o female and 3 month old male, how to help them become friends?

Post by Tara »

Dear Chow Chow Community,
My husband and I have had Simba our 9 year old female chow since she was a puppy, and recently we decided to get another chow chow, and 3 days ago we went to take him, he is now 3 months old and his name is Pumba (even though he still doesn't know it).
As expected, from reading a lot from you guys and knowing by now how chow act, Simba is not very happy with her new playmate. She won't hurt him, that is clear, she growls at him a little bit when he gets in her face, but mostly, she just runs away from him. She doesn't look at him, she didn't sniff him once, and she just want to be left alone completely. But if Pumba goes near her, she gets up and quickly moves away from him into a corner.
Please help us with advice, how to act? How to help them? How to help Simba be more at ease in the house? Will this change for the better? How can my husband and I assist and help?
Thank you in advance, every piece of advice is welcome and wanted :)

Tara and Matej
