Hi! I'm new on here. I had a chow when I was 2 years old. That was enough to get me hooked. I loved Bip. My dad just recently got me my sweet Nala. She is very calm and sweet. She is 7 weeks old. I'm in love all over again. She has blue eyes, and she's this cinnamon color. She is learning really fast. We had to take her food and water away and only give it at certain times because she would eat and drink all day if we'd let her. Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated. I'd love to teach her as much as possible! Thanks!!

What a sweet lil face :D

Chows seldom over eat. I suggest for such a baby you weigh out and use a measure to get the correct amount of food and split it into 4 or 5 small meals and let her have each one for ten minutes. If it is not all eaten pick it up and let her wait for the next but under eight weeks she should really still be with her momma and litter unless there was good reason to remove her so frequent small feeds are necessary.

Provided you pop her outside on waking, after eating and fairly frequently in between for the first two weeks she should be house trained very quickly. If you have problems confine her to one room till she learns not to use the house to go in. Chows are very clean and do not like to mess their space so a small area become their space and messing must be done outside of that area.

Lots of socialisation as she is missing her littermates and the learning they do together. As soon as she has had her shots let her get out and meet other dogs and people, until then she should meet people on her home territory.

Check out the training section for lots of tips and ask as many questions as you like.

Good advice from Siriol, I don't really have anything to add, just wanted to say how cute she is.

We had to get her so soon because they were Selling them all already. She was the last one left. She is definitely still a baby! She loves to snuggle up next to you and sleeps all the time. Thanks for the advise! So far she has done really good about going outside to use the bathroom. She has figured out what door to go to when she needs to go. She has also learned to sit before and after to put on and take off her leash. ☺️ We are working on her coming when we ask her too and to shake.
We also have a Yorkie named buster. They love each other. But our cat Bella is not so happy about the new addition. She isn't a very happy cat to begin with lol
