Having coat issues.

Calypso has just turned two, she was classified as rough coat chow but her "big" coat never came in properly. Could this be due to genetics? If not what can I use to get the coat to come in, she gets her daily brushings. Coat comes off but doesnt seem to come in full. She was just at the vet 3 weeks ago to have full blood panel done and tested for hyperthyroid which came out negative. I also thought possibly a late-bloomer since she had some puppy coat up until 1yr 1/2 Here are a few pictures of her

i dont see any coat issues based on the photos. Simply misclassified. If not a true smooth Chow, definitely closer to that than a rough.

Looks like she's what some people call, an "inbetweener". Not smooth, and not as fluffy as MANY of the roughs get. But she IS a rough. Just doesn't have the huge coat.

Thank you, i when we got her we wanted to possibly take her in the confirmation ring. But there was a big confusion on her coat since it was never as fluffy as the show ones are.

For conformation, she would show as a rough.

Beautiful as she is, I don't think Calypso is a purebred Chow. If you google it, she has the exact white markings of a Shiba Inu. That would account for her smaller size too. She's a gorgeous Shiba-Chow, I would say, so it would make sense for her fur to be somewhat in-between, like it is.
