Please welcome Wookie

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share a few pics of my new chow, Wookie. He's 8 weeks old and we just picked him up over the weekend. My GF had 2 black chows several years ago, raised them from puppy until they passed away (due to age), and she loved them dearly.

Wookie is a red, lower part of the jaw is black and his left ear is always tilted down a bit. He received his parvo shot last weekend and I have scheduled to bring him into a vet for a check up as well as getting started on the other interval shots. Extremely playful, of course, and sleeps right next to my bed at night.

So without further adieu, onto the pics:

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

He's eating/sleeping great, always happy to see me and is semi-potty trained. Both his parents are black and were a delight to be around. Wookie is from a liter of 3 brothers (black, red & white) and we picked him based on our interaction and thought he was one of the more mellow ones in the group. He's eating a mixture of dry/canned puppy chow and seems to love it.

Our first vet visit is tomorrow morning, can't wait.

Just a few more pics from last night:

Went to the vet on Wednesday, exam went great and I've got some homework: stool sample. He got his worm pills and will be back in 2 weeks for a shot. After another shot or two I will bring him to puppy classes.

I bought a crate for him and while he didn't like it at first he's getting used to it. I'm also starting to get his potty routine down as well. Wookie loves to follow me around the house, most of the time he'll play with his toys and sleep. When he sleeps sometimes he will twitch his legs as if he's having a wild dream or something.

Other than that he's just a big cotton ball.

Wookie is cute. And don't worry about that ear, my Dreamdancer was like that when I got him at 8 weeks and by 14 weeks both ears were up and they've stayed that way for 5 years!

Welcome Wookie! My Nodingham had both ears that never popped up and it was part of his charm...made him look even more like a big teddy bear.

You know what I forgot to mention that his ear has popped back up to normal. So strange, it was slightly tilted down for a few days after I got him and now it's normal.

He's just so squeezeable!
