They want to take away my baby :(
The condo where we live in is now under a new management and their new policy includes that there should be no large pets. they saw Apollo when we're in the elevator and said Apollo's big and therefore cannot stay any longer. My bf and I talked about this and he suggested that we bring Apollo in our province (country home and we came from the same province). He cannot keep Apollo either 'cause he too stays at a condo. He said Apollo will stay at their house since they have a really big place with huge yard where Apollo can play and run as long as he wants to. His dad is a pet lover and they have lots of workers and assistants who are trustworthy that can look after our baby. I'm not quite comfortable with the suggestion or set-up because I want to take care of Apollo. I will miss every single thing about him. my bf will graduate from college a year from now and he'll take care of Apollo from thereon. I still have 2 years before I graduate. We go home in our province every other week, if ever the idea will push thru I will go home there every week to be with Apollo.
My bf assured me that Apollo will be in good hands. His dad will take care of Apollo for a while until my bf graduates. My bf told me that this is only temporary and soon everything will be back to normal. We just have to finish school as soon as possible. This situation motivated me more to graduate on time.
I didn't expect that this'll happen since our condo used to be a pet-friendly place.
I'm scared that Apollo might forget about me. will you guys hate me if I will agree to the suggestion of my bf? He said it will also benefit Apollo since the country side has cooler fresher air and there's a large place for him to play unlike the city set-up where the space for him is limited.
The management gave us until friday. I don't know what to do, I don't want Apollo to go away but it seems I don't have any other choice. my heart is breaking. It keeps on bugging me and I can't concentrate on my studies

Re: They want to take away my baby :(
If there's no way for you to move to another location at the moment that will accept Apollo, I believe you're doing the best thing you can do for him right now. You know he's going to be in good hands and you and your bf will be able to see him as often as you can. He won't forget about you, I promise. My oldest cat, Tulio, and I have a very strong bond. When my mother kicked me out as a teenager, I had to leave him behind because I was staying with my grandmother and then going to college and only staying at her house in between schooling. I went to school three hours away from home. I didn't see him for almost four years. But then my mother called and told my grandmother she was going to put my other cat down due to health issues and because my cat didn't get along with her new dog, she was going to give my cat away or take him to the pound. I begged my fiance to take him (a year before I graduated) as he owns our condo and he knew how much the cat meant to me. I picked up my cat and a few days later, Brian came and got him. Turns out I didn't really need to beg My cat never forgot me. And he forgave me. We're together now. Time goes fast. It will be alright. But sometimes in life you have to do what you have to do.
Re: They want to take away my baby :(
@ Tychowgirl, Thank you for that. I need someone who can comfort me right now. I keep on saying sorry to Apollo. I know he'll forgive me and I know he'll understand that I'm doing what's best for him. I promised myself that I'll see Apollo as often as I could. Good thing I don't have saturday classes anymore. I'll make up It up to him. I miss him already. I'm worried he'll have a hard time adjusting. *sigh* this really breaks my heart into million pieces. My bf said we have to adjust and be optimistic. The welfare of Apollo is the priority right now.
Re: They want to take away my baby :(
So sorry to hear that Aly. That's one of the reasons I kept myself from having a dog while I was still at school. I'm not saying it is your fault but having to undergo such situation wherein you can do nothing because you are still young and in the fold yet is heart rending. Although we have a house to live in during my studies in manila but by my 3rd year I have to move to a boarding school because of intensive study needed to do while at UST.
I too would want to keep Apollo if I were you - in your house in the province. Not your bf's home. I dont wanna dampen your immaculate outlook in life as you are still young and sheltered and coming from a good family but know this: Nothing in life is picture-perfect. And the situation right now might not be forever. What am I saying? I am saying that although what your boyfriend is trying to show you what the two of you will do when you graduate and with Apollo being something of your baby (both of you), it might not be realized.
I hope you can ask for a dialogue with the person who can decide on the matter. Dont talk to the secretary or anyone who does not have a say on the policy. Just ask for the contact number and try to meet him or her in the office, persuade him/her to make an exeMption on Apollo with you promising to keeP the building code by heart and that that they wont even notice Apollo. It is doable. Ask why they dont like pets and provIde your solution so it wont be a problem anymore.

Re: They want to take away my baby :(
): i'm sorry! In how sad you're feeling, you were such a good mom to him, I'm sure he won't ever forget you or be mad at you. It's only temporary, and in the time away from him, you will be focusing on school and when you finish, you guys will be reunited! I can't imagine going through that, hope you two have the greatest few days together before you part (temporarily, don't forget temporary!!) BEST WISHES.

Have you talked to the breeder about giving Apollo back? She might be able to find him a new chow-loving home!
Re: They want to take away my baby :(
@ Cam, I just had a talk with the condo's management, they will let Apollo stay but we have to pay extra cash for the 'penalty'. Money is no issue as long as I get to keep Apollo. I was really reasoning with them, using my debate skills and all. They have conditions tho. Apollo can't ride the elevator if there are other people there, he must not be visible in parking lots, rooftops, swimming pool area. And we must not bother other neighbors with the barking. Apollo's the gentlest creature for me. He seldom barks. Only if he's REALLY hungry or thirsty or if he's in his crate and have to do his business (pee or poo). I thank God that he don't have to be seperated from me. I'm so happy again!
@ Nnguyentang, fortunately I'll get to keep Apollo we won't have to be seperated. The thought of being far away from him kills me he's one of my inspirations to finish school on time.
@ Sarahloo, sorry to bust your bubble but I don't think I can do that. I can't give up on Apollo. I'll fight for him no matter what. It never crossed my mind to find Apollo a new home. Not even in a jiffy I thought of that. Call me selfish, but Apollo's only mine. thanks for the concern.

Re: They want to take away my baby :(
So glad for you and Apollo, it would have been such a shame to be apart.
Re: They want to take away my baby :(
It will be everyday will be hell without Apollo.
Re: They want to take away my baby :(
So glad to hear you squared things away. Honestly, I think it was crap to do that...though I know it's their right, things like this really should be 'grandfathered' in since you were there before management. But no matter, it worked out and what's important is you still have Apollo.
Re: They want to take away my baby :(
Oh yeah! That's the spirit! I know you could do it.
Now you must buy a small doggy enclosure so Apollo wont stay in his crate and he can poop or pee on the other half of the enclosure. Cassie also whine and barks when she was in her crate so it means it is cramped. Place a plastic and newspaper for his toilet area (he'll decide where it is in the enclosure) and tell the household help to remove any evidence and put again fresh newspaper.
In short you have to keep Apollo happy and comfortable while you are at school. Cassie is not a barker. Thus I got to keep her in the hotel for 2nights and alone for 4 hours because me and my daughter have to go for a doctor's appointment. On the second day, we went shopping for another 4 hours and Cassie never let her presence be known. I loved that frontdesk clerk, bless her for letting me smuggle Cassie.
About Apollo not being visible in Public places of your condo is for the benefit of all. Think about those who has asthma, allergy to animal danders, and those who simply feel icky if they saw a dog's hair floating bY the pool's waters. So by understanding that, you can put yourself in the management's shoes and you must do your part in earnest. They want you to keep a low profile so also not to encourage other animal lovers to have a pet of similar size. If they do, and would point at you (like "why did she get to have a chow and we couldn't?) if there will be too many of you, the management might decide to ban altogeher including Apollo.

Re: They want to take away my baby :(
@ Applebear, I know that sucks a lot! But I thank God that he opened the hearts and minds of those people and let me keep my baby
@ Cam, Thank you! I've lost a Chow once, and I will never let that happen again. Good thing they heard me out and they took the time to listen and think about what I was saying. God bless them too I'll buy Apollo that enclosure and a new and bigger travel cage. He grows bigger everyday! In a few weeks, he won't fit in his crate anymore. sometimes when I get home from school I'll be in awe as I see him 'cause it seems he grew in the past hours. Hahaha. I think, in general, Chows are behave and gentle. When I say no to whatever he's doing, he would stop as if he can understand me. I'm amazed everyday on how Apollo grows up. He grows more beautiful everyday. I wouldn't want to miss a single adventure or milestone of him.

Re: They want to take away my baby :(
You can buy a pair of sunglasses, a tuxedo and a fedora for Apollo complete with doggy black shoes so no one will notice and the two of you can go about the elevator and receiving area incognito.(lol) joke!
Congrats on your recent diplomatic success.
