Well, we'll all be there in spirit!! Although Special is waiting by the door in case he hears Steel's plane or in case the magic carpet dries out!

We can't wait to see pictures of the chow fest! I can't even imagine how great this will be for you all, I'm sooooo jealous! :D Plus, I'd LOVE to see the face of a non-chow owner passerby! You'll all make everyone fall in love with chows!

Yes, have a lovely day today - it is already Sunday here on The Island and M & M are waiting in the garden in case Steel turns up in his plane. They are watching for the magic carpet too but they are still concerned about the time change!
Anyway, I bet it will cause a stir and I too am so jealous!

Okay, this is PB. I'm posting only 5 photos of the ChowFest for now. We have more but this is time consuming and I want to take a nap soon.

Enjoy!

This was the group before Troy and Sheena arrived.

Boo hoo I wish that was Nanuk and I with you all! Maybe next time we can meet in the Sac area ;) :) Looks like tons of fun and I'm sorry we missed out. So how did all the dogs do? Looks like they were pretty mellow about the whole thing, fill us in.

The chows did quite well, if not excellent, with each other.
Being a chow, they must enjoy being with other chows.
The proof is in the pictures.
I enlarged a couple of PB's photos so you can see it better:

Chows: L-R... Zhuyo (cr), PB, Mr. N. (cr), Shiloh, Kodi, Leonora (cr)

Chows: L-R... Troy (black), Sheena (cinnamon), Leonora (cream)

I must say that the group picture (you can double click on any of the photos to make them bigger) is a fine display of the kid's blue/black tongues...

:D I think we all had our tongues hanging out from the heat...

Lou, that is a lovely picture of Baby Zhuyo. It just amazes me to see how the creams look so much alike :D
ChowFest N Cal 2007 or should it be ChowFest West Coast 2007? By that time Baby LEO will look more mature and lady like, I think. Whether or not she acts as one, well that's another story. The word "Fat Chance" comes to mind...

I'm camping, but had to take a quick look-wonderful shots! I'm glad everyone made it! We were there in spirit, worried it would be too hot. I always think of 'little Leonora' as a small baby, but she looks like a pretty good size girl! Miss PB, for someone sight impaired, your nose knows the path to the treats, doesn't it? And Kodi! He looks so happy to be among his fellow chows. First reports are Troy the Brat isn't such a brat after all, huh? I'm glad Shiloh was a friendly girl, since Mr N is a bit persnickity...isn't it always the way, one friendly, one...not so much. We await your treat review, Professor Zho!

Oh, No, Ms. Auddymay. My sight is perfect. I think you are thinking of my friend, Dakota. I sent the Magic Carpet to pick her up. Her sight is impaired. She is blind. My sight is so good that you know what I saw at ChowFest? I saw a squirrel prancing towards our picnic site and headed straight at me. I greeted it with a dance and then Mommy, who has to hold a restaurant menu 2 feet away from her face to read it, said it wasn't a squirrel but a dogson. Now, I've never heard of a dogson. Have you? I know you are very smart and you will staighten this up between mom and myself. I have reason to question her eyesight.

Next year Pip and Lily must come and join us!

Thanks, Leo's mum. Since Arnis lost Kahn, it just made me remember baby Zhu. I always think of him as that little chowling, even though I know he's a distinguished senior (or as a web site I recentely read refers to someone of Zhu's age a "geriatric").

What I found really special and somewhat surprising was when the humans (us chow parents) greeted the chows that were not ours. The chows just seemed to instantly be friendly with us chow parents. Like we were old friends that haven't seen each other in a while. I think there were a couple of skiddish moments, but those were rare yesterday. Most of them let others hold their leashes. Some were tethered together on the same post or as in Sheena's case, I attached her leash to PB's leash. Also, for those who enjoy the "pack" order, I think there was a degree of respect the chows showed one another. They all appeared to know that Leo was the baby of the bunch with all her fun, fun chowling energy and charm. They appeared to know that Zhu was the oldest and most revered. Troy might have said something to Zhu in silent and Zhu just up and spoke/barked and then Troy immediately went on his back.

I'm am curious if the Canada group who got together last Spring experienced the same when their chows met each other and their respected parents. I also encourage you all to try to get something like this going with those chow family you know live close to you. Our ChowFest was a long time coming and as you can tell, we had a blast!

Very few asked about our chows. Our privacy was pretty much honored.

P.S. Auddymay, I told PB it was a dauchsund. Not a dogson.

Actually, there were 3 cream chows...Zhuyo, Leo, and Mr. N
In the group picture that Lou posted, Zhu is laying down and Leo is directly across from him. Mr. N is toward the back sitting with me next to him...and each one of them have their unique features.

I just had to post again. I love the umbrella abode!! How cool! :D

I think we could all explode from all the cuteness, how did you all that were there stand it? :inlove: Everyone looks just amazing! :D

I always think of Leo as a little baby too, but oh my goodness she's a beautiful grown-up chow girl, how old is she now? I can't believe how much she's changed!

Yes indeed - I think the pictures are brilliant and it just shows how beautiful our chow chows are and I agree, I think of all dogs, and I have loved a lot, these chow chows are the most mystical. That is why I maintain, they are not just dog, there is something else in there. What, I am not sure but there is certainly something extra. :D

3.. yes 3... sorry, my bad. LOL.. DOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY..

I love them all. To be honest guys.. I have never seen a cream chow in person.. and never saw a picture of one until I came here.Didn't even know they existed. I thought they were all either Black, cinn, or red colors. When I found Steel and he was Blue, I was like "cool.. unique".. I like unique things.
I was showing my husband the pictures. I told him I want another dog, but I would like to rescue one this time. He said.. He gets to pick the next dog.. I said.. ok, as long as its a rescue and is chow or has chow in it. :D

WOW, looks like alot of fun. Wish we could have been there with you. It amazes me how chows can get along so well even if they don't normally like other dogs. For example, Ivana does not like other dogs she will not bite or anything she just walks away and if they try to play with her she growls at them. But if another chow comes by she is fine with them even tries to play with some of them. So wierd. I love the cream chows I never had any growing up, but at sometime in my life (when my sister in law is retired or we are) I think I may get one. They are just pretty, but my first love will always be black. :D Bottom line I am envious of everyones visit to chowfest. Someday I will make it....
Have a Chowfastic Day!!
