Shelter screwed up....

Post by bama »

I'm outraged at our neighboring county shelter!!! Missing dog was euthanized after he was missing for only
3 hours!!! Yes.....a man was out looking for his missing dog, when after 3 hours of searching, he called
the shelter to see if anyone had brought in his dog. Yes, someone found him and brought him to the shelter.
Even though the dog had only just arrived and was wearing a tag, it was immediately put to sleep.
I believe the dog was heinz 57, but not sure? This has been all over our
local news, with local outrage!! The dog's human is very distraught and in disbelief, but I think he will sue.
I know the pet population is out of control, but come on....that was illegal!!!
The shelter is supposed to hold the animal for 10 days!

WTF, that was not a screw up. That was intentional. That is horrible. I would sue as well. I can't even imagine how that poor owner feels, knowing he did everything right including calling the shelter and find that out.

So sad. I don't think I would be able to comprehend it if this happened to me. I feel so terrible for the poor dog and the poor owner.

this is the same county, that 2 years ago, a beagle was skinned alive and nothing was done.
Animals just don't mean much to a certain number of the population around here!

OMG this is shocking and so sad. I feel for the poor owners and the family this could happen to anyone. Once again an animal let down by "humans".

Bama-- I think it is time for you to seriously consider running for the office of animal control, (or whatever they call it) Is the leader elected, (many places he/she is) if he/she isn't and is appointed, maybe you and that poor owner should get together and start a petition to get he/she unappointed and get someone in there who cares. (sometimes I hate that we can't use certain language on this site!)

It totally sucks that they didn't even try to contact the owner or hold the dog for the required length of time. This is/was inexcusable...I'd sue too, and I'd wait to see what the outcome of that court decision in California was too, (they are considering how to place an actual value on a companion animal in CA)

Poor dog and poor owner...I can't imagine it's hard enough when they are lost, but for the animal to be killed, (and it was killed, no euthanized!)

The dog's name was, Boost. He was a full blood boxer, wearing a collar, but the tag was gone. (I stand corrected on the tag)
Regardless, they should have held Boost the Boxer for the required time frame.
Human stupidity like this causes my inner-redneck to rear it's ugly head!!!
I hope heads roll for this crime!

here's a link to this inexcusable mess....

Vic, I agree with you, they need someone to run that shelter who gives a dam! I've found myself thinking about charging into the shelter and taking over by force!!!

Forgive my ignorance of things south of here: is your state one where "He needed killing" is a valid defense? If so, I say yes, take over by force and clean house with firearms. (I have a picture of you in the scene from the first Terminator, at the police station where Arnold says he'll be back and then returns and decimates the police).

If only Bama - IF ONLY - we could all join forces with Steel and Colonel and Gwrol and Troy de bad Boy and all the other boy chows leading the way - followed closely by the girlie chows.
Heaven help the Shelter staff - with us all following on with weapons wielding.
With our many and varied cultural traits - we would be a formidable force.

Well - we would be..............................

the shelter director says the county shelter is an, "impound". That's his defense for what he has done!!
We're talking Cullman County, Alabama. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Alabama, it's a beautiful and wonderful
place to live, however Cullman County is known for it's backwoods ignorance. In fact, it is the butt of jokes
for us Alabamians. When you see a mullet head guy in a jacked up pickup truck, covered with *Bondo, and
a rag hanging out of the gas tank, you know he's from Cullman County!!

The guy will have a plethra of dog lovers joining him, when he has his day in court!
I plan to be one of them!

Cinder is willing to help Ivana. If that guy doesn't like chows, he should be lunch, in her opinion!

Teddy however, thinks the guy just needs to be rehomed, shown his place in the pack (below all the 4legged creatures, given his past behavior), and loved. He thinks he is behaving badly in the shelter environment because he is confused and overwhelmed. Shelters are scary places.
