Possible Food issue causing ill stomach?

Post by Clockman »

Emma is now almost 5 and until now has had only a handful of issues with vomit and poop.

She's been eating Call of the Wild dry food with a couple tablespoons of their wet food mixed in (she loves the wet and tolerates the dry). I noticed that Call of the Wild recently "improved" the flavor and formula of their Wetlands wet can food. Maybe it's coincidence, but last week I cleaned up a pile of partially digested dry food and she had a bile barf a couple days before. She seems to have had diarrhea or loose stools several times in the last month or two as well.

Today, as a treat, I decided we'd walk up the street (I know, I don't do regular walks, but we let her "free range" with supervision daily on two acres at least once a day...probably not enough). The street walk is poop ritual. Normally we start out and within five minutes of the walk we have to stop for "the main poop". With that over, we normally walk on for another 30 minutes or so before "the secondary" and sometimes "the tertiary" poop. The second and third are normally loose than the first and I attribute it to "walking the poop out of her". Today, however, the main poop seemed ok (I couldn't see it as she went downhill into the leaves like a lady!) but the second one was a shocker. I could tell she was pacing and something was brewing, but when she released, it was like someone stepped on a tube of poop-colored toothpaste (ewww!!!) It was basically a projectile diarrhea I guess.

I'm concerned that possibly the "new and improved" wet food isn't agreeing with her, even though she adores it. Anyone else having stomach trouble with the new formula? What recipe should I use to try to put her stomach back in balance (boiled white rice in with her dry food)?

Thanks and Merry Christmas, Chris.

I don't use that food, so I cannot say. From what I have read, boiled rice should help.
