Maggie and Roxie camp out!

Post by furballchowbaby »

This weekend we decided to camp out in our backyard. I put the big a$$ tent up in less than an hour, so I'm pretty certain that makes me a master camper

Our neighbors came home at midnight and had their windows open with music on a little loud... not really loud, but we were in the yard sleeping, so it was loud to us. Neither of the dogs barked at them.

Around 2am, I hear this noise outside and it's Maggie doing zoomies all over the yard. I was bracing for impact at some point thinking she might forget the tent was in her path, but she just ran all around it. Roxie just lays there and watches at this stage of her life since her hips just aren't as agile as they once were.

About 7am, I hear 50 dogs barking! I thought I might rip my hair out. I looked out to yell at our dogs to hush, but there they were both fast asleep next to the tent door.... NOT BARKING!!!

I vote that we have the best dogs in the neighborhood! They were excellent campers and are completely exhausted today!

That sounds like fun, the zoomies, I guess the dogs were happy, back to nature.
My son used to camp in the yard too, no dog at the time, he took his cat Patches with him.

Oh that sounds like so much fun, even though I am not a camper, in the back yard wouldn't be bad. It's funny Maggie would be doing zoomies in the middle of the night. Camping had her all geared up.

How old is Maggie? She does have a very shiny coat. Has she been spayed? My chow is 3 1/2 yrs. old, has a beautiful thick shiny coat and a puffy tail. She'll be spayed soon and I wonder if her coat is going to change, that would be a shame.

Jazzys coat seemed to get shiner and healthier after she was spayed. Several other milestones happened at the same time though. Her major shed was finished coming out, and I think she lost her baby fuzzy coat and her adult coat came in about that same time.

I had a showlady tell me spaying can cause hair growth. I was looking at all the show chows with their shory fuzzy breeches, and skimpy tails. I wondered aloud why ours were so much prettier!

Maybe the constant grooming, primping, travelling causes show chows to get stressed and their fur is not as nice. Who's to say that Miss America or Miss World are the pretties women?
