Is Chi-Ching too small??

Post by PurpleKisses »

When comparing Chingers pics to other chows on here and on other sites, he seems extremely small to me, especially for a male....

I posted this pic in the photo gallery too but it really shows his size..... my daughter is only 8 months old.....

Oh, and he is almost 3 years old...

hmmm How much does he weigh? And what's his height? He is sooo beautiful that I would never worry if he is a little smaller than other Chow boys! Remember : "THE BEST THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES!" :P

From the pictures Chi-ching looks the same size as all the rest but I found this on the net. You really can't go byt the wieght range of this, there are male Chows in the 40's and females in the 60's. This chart must be just for show biz.

The Breed at a Glance

Recognized by AKC
Country of Origin China
Life Expectancy 10 yrs
Height Range 17 - 19 in.
Weight Range 45 lbs (f); 60 lbs (m)
Colors Red, cream, cinnamon, blue, black

Trainability Chows are keen and very trainable

With Children Temperament should be a major concern when being used for breeding. No problems with well behaved children

With Animals Best with opposite *Censored Word*

Climate Dry and cool climate is best due to heavy coat

Indoor / Outdoor In the heat always indoors and always need a fan on the floor

Exercise Reqd Moderate exercise

Grooming Reqd Fairly heavy grooming at least monthly; more with puppies

That is the cutest picture. If Chingers only ways 40 lbs then yes, I'd say that is small for a male chow. Wilbur is 8 months old and about 55 lbs......

OMG, his coat has grown back BEAUTIFUL!!!! You still take the BEST pics I have ever seen.....I am so JEALOUS, my favorite was the one when I first joined with Chi-Ching, snow and the reef on your front door =D= Now I have to say this one is the most ADORABLE Chow & Baby Pic I have seen!!!
The pics on the site are deceiving.....when we went to Chow Fest I was shocked at how small Colonel was, from the pics on the site I thought he was MUCH BIGGER. The ones I thought were bigger were smaller and the smaller ones were bigger LOL!!! I thought Kearra was very small for a Chow and I found out she was average.....and Kyra I thought was big for a Chow and she was average too at 50#'s LOL!!!
Chi-Ching and Butters....are still the most HANDSOME Cream Chow Boys I have ever seen with the MOST personality!!!!

Wow! That is a fantastic pic! I think size varies widely, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had 4 chows so far, 3 females: 70, 60, 48 lbs each at healthy weights and my only boy,Teddy is 65 lbs.

As beautiful as Chinger is I would not care if he were 40lbs. or 85 lbs. I think with Chows personality and temperament are more important than size and weight.
Is he to small? No.

Both of your kids are cute in that photo, this is gotta be the best of your photos, at least the ones I have seen. Neither of the kids are aware of being photographed. Chi Ching is adorable, he doesn't even look his age, still has that puppy look. The tea party photo with your two older girls I loved too.

Gorgeous Chow! :D Yes, he is small, but size seems to vary widely with Chows. My girl is 44lbs at 6 months old, but then both her parents were on the large side.

Absolutely SWEET-looking Chow, I wouldn't worry about the size, but be blessed to have such a wonderful looking Chow! Lucky you. It doesn't get any sweeter than that.
