Re: Tess & Me
I've finally managed to gather enough strength to open this thread. I've read through it all in tears and I am glad I did. After loosing our first chow, Cha-cha, to bloat over 20 years ago, my mother still can't make herself own another. My folks have had several dogs since then, but she says she is...

Re: seat belt
We've got a doggie seatbelt/harness for LEO. Used to use it on long jouneys of an hour or more, especially if I was on my own driving. She sits at the rear passenger seat on our SUV. It worked, and I'd say it is definitely safer if I'm on my own w/ her(w/o DH or anyone else to restrain her, in rare...

Re: Louie's 16 week vet appt. So Embarrassing!
As Auddymay mentioned, you could bring Louie in to the reception area of the vet and have them treat him. My LEO knows all the receptionists and vet techs and they all love her. The vet is her main boarding place while we are away, and she knows where the treats kept. She can't wait to get th...

Sending healing thoughts your way. Do consider giving him Glucosamine & Chondriotin tablets as part of his daily supplements. Unlike meds there seems no major side effects.

Re: jump in the car
Call me weak, but I bribe LEO into doing things alot. Put/Throw a treat on to the car seat or where ever you want her to go. She'll contemplate, but normally it works. I do this to get her into the car, get her out of Starbucks, get into the house, just make her walk in the way I want her to walk......

Re: Groomer Recommendation
I do not know of your area but the way I found my groomer was by talking to fellow dog owners on the street and to fellow dog walkers in the neighbourhood. That's how I got a good vet for her as well. And a boarding kennel. I also surfed on the net for comments. The groomer doesn't have to speciali...

Re: Louie has a cold!?
According to my vet, there are no such thing as "cold" for dogs. He called it "upper respiratory infection", and told me it takes a long time to clear up. Why do I know this? It's because we've been through it with LEO. She was kenneled for two weeks and got it there. It took her...

Re: Growing way too fast!
I just flicked back on my i-cal to see how big my LEO was. 31/01/06, 15wks 29lbs=13.2kg. Louie seems much larger. LEO(Leonora) is now 58lbs. Louie will be a big boy!

Re: Growing way too fast!
Too cute!! He is huge!! Don't let him grow too fast, tho. Bad for the joints. Are you feeding him large breed puppy formula? Regular puppy formula is too nutritious for the larger breeds. Tho chows aren't really a large breed, it is a breed prone to joint and bone problems, so it is safer to stick t...
