Re: 12 weeks old, suddenly peeing
Sounds more like marking rather than accidental peeing. Most won't see any difference, as its really the same thing, except for intention. I do have a male who is very well trained, but will mark anything that is left lying on the floor. It's just his way. He has no interest in blankets or doggy be...

Re: 12 weeks old, suddenly peeing
When Chance was young he was solid on his potty training on tile. BUT... he had no problem peeing on carpet, blankets, and dog beds. All of these items were removed until he was "proofed" on his potty training. I agree with chow4life. Rule out UTI and then proceed with closer monitoring if...

Re: chow chow and its smell
Chance has a distinct aroma (NOT SMELLY) it is almost like cedar. I love burying my nose in his coat and taking a deep breath! Our Chow X Golden does not stink either. Our Rottweiler smells sweaty if he has been outside for very long (ick) For the person asking about bathing. Our Chow's "bib&qu...

Show burn-out. Way too many shows with no other chows entered. A few we showed at anyway because they were close, but several we just dropped out of. Chance's last show was one of those nearby. Oh My Goodness... Saturday he was on his game. He stacked beautifully and carried himself with such dignit...

Re: Help.... Wet bib and neck
Chance is a messy drinker too. I had to spend the money and get a pet hair dryer. I bought a very basic http://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/metro-air-force-40-commander-pet-dryer I am not with him throughout the day, but when I am home I am constantly wiping his neck with a towel. I do blow it d...

Re: Chow chow tail not always up.
I agree with the others. Sometimes Chance will hold his tale weird and I have to jokingly tell him, "Fix your TALE!" He does, with a goofy play swat at my hand when I am reaching for it. As a puppy, he would raise his away from his back when he was startled

Re: Fair price?
If I were to ever breed both the male and female would have to have an AKC championship, plus health checks. In order to get an AKC championship I have to take my dogs around the country. It is expensive. I once did a little breakdown on what we were spending: A basic tally of what it has cost us &q...

Re: Some people make me want to scream
I understand what you mean! I am so happy that Dixie is a good girl. So many dogs to not like to be hugged on by squealing children. I have tried to explain this to parents and they yell at me. Stating that dogs should not be out in public if they can't be touched by others. I had to correct a woman...

I can't wait to hear how he does! But, I do understand the need to spend some family time at home. I am trying to convince my husband that romantic weekends can be accomplished around dog shows. He is a skeptic, but is coming along with me to a couple shows this year.

Romeo is so gorgeous. I guess that he and Chance (being half brothers) have many things in common. Chance also has zero treat motivation. AND he hates to come in at night. If he sees me coming out to get him he will run from me. We have made a game of playing chase around the yard. This can be a pai...

Re: 6 week old chow chow puppy not gaining as much weight as his litter mates
Young puppies need a lot of protein. I feed raw. My puppies are started at an early age with a mix of goats milk, yogurt, and eggs. I like to mix in small cut up pieces of raw chicken and finely chopped chicken necks for added calcium. When whelping a litter of pups I have often stepped in and place...

He really does look great. I am looking forward to hearing how he does. 50 lbs? Wow!!! He doesn't look fat, just solid. Do you think he is going to be a big boy? I love his profile shot.
Chance is holding steady at 72lbs.

I am so glad to hear that Sunni is responding. I am guessing that the lack of adventure time in her first four years has her a bit hesitant about new thing/people. Give her some time. I am certain that she will open up once she feels safe in her new environment. Congrats on your new addition!

Have you taken Bella in for a "new puppy" check up? The vet can make certain that she does not have any ailments. Worms can sometimes cause labored breathing

Hi Gweyn. Dog bites can infect quite easily. I usually take mine in and have the vet give us antibiotics just to be on the safe side. Good luck

Very, Very NICE! I do not blame you on getting the picture without the judge (no disrespect intended). When we travel long periods, we often scoot out as soon as possible on Sunday's. We have even missed a couple group rings because we just HAD TO GO! I was wondering about the joys and pains of gett...

Re: cats
We have a cat and three dogs. Our Chow and our Golden X Chow have to be kept away from the cat. They both try to EAT the cat! On the other hand... the cat has to be kept away from our 6 month old Rottweiler (who weighs 60 lbs) as the cat bullies the Rottweiler.  It is really not an issue...
