Our New Little Girl
Here's our new blue Chow Chow puppy. She's about 5 months old. Her owner couldn't take care of her properly (too much work not enough time to play) and decided she needed to find a new family that could give her lots of love and attention. We met her yesterday for the first time and fell in love. He...

Auddymay this ones for you
Auddymay I do believe you must be a scrapbooker as am I. Here's a layout from two years ago of Kona. Journaling reads- On February 15, Kona had surgery on his knee. A few weeks before the big operation he started limping, not wanting to put pressure on his back leg. The specialist informed us that K...

Re: Chows and Kids-- Any Questions?
The first photo was taken this past weekend after we adopted our new little blue girl :D The second photo is of my son and our chow Kona. The photo was taken about two years ago. Chase was in pre-school at the time and it was crazy hat week. Each day Chase would bring home a new hat that he had made...

Re: What made you chose a Chow.
I know this sounds crazy but every time I saw Martha Stewart's chow I thought wow, now that's a beautiful dog. I didn't set out to get a dog but a co-worker brought her chow puppies to work one day. She said she had a few that weren't spoken for. The rest is history. Kona is almost 8. He's a great g...

Re: What color of chow is this?
The chow I'm considering adopting is blue. I did a google search and found this article Examples of Chow Chow Colors. According to this I think your little guy might be classified as cream .

Re: Adopting a 6 month old
Thanks everyone for your help. I know nothing is for sure. Before Kona had his surgery I asked the vet if he had been x-rayed as a puppy would we have seen how bad his hips were and the vet said yes. I still would have adopted him I just would have educated myself much sooner.

Adopting a 6 month old
I'm considering adopting a 6 month old who's owner doesn't have the time needed to care for her chow puppy. My 8 year old chow has hip dysplasia and has had one surgery already and may need another one some day so I'm a little paranoid. Should I ask to have my vet look at the puppy before I purchase...
