Re: Leela off her food, not well, Vaccines?
Well, still not much appetite but she acting a little more spritely. I took her for a morinng stroll and she was sooooo into it...that's a good thing. And I got to see her poop so I know her innards are working. Poop only a tiny soft but well formed. I don't think this heat is helping! Maybe I'll tr...

Re: Leela off her food, not well, Vaccines?
Oh golly, thank you so much for the response! I just never had this happen with other dogs. You can surely tell when our little vixen is not up to par!! I am hoping that the morning brings renewed vigor to our girl!

Leela off her food, not well, Vaccines?
Leela had her yearly checkup and the scheduled vaccines on thursday morning. Yesterday morning she would not eat breakfast. Later in the morning she ate a little kibble. Last night she was raring to walk and work, and ate well. This morning, she didn't even stand up by the bowl. I put it between her...

Re: Food Questions
I feed Leela Eagle Pack..the anchovy protein. I figure that this formulation is good since I also read that they subsisted mainly on fish and rice and veggies in their culture. She loves it and seems to do well. I do also do a little mixing in: sardines in water, canned tuna (but not often because o...

Re: Suddenly Stubborn? Need advice
With Leela's hips, she has trouble jumping into a vehicle. My Jetta was impossible because the door didn't open wide enough for our ramp. So my husband picked up an old shoe stool from the thrift store....the kind the shoe salespeople used to sit on to help you try on your shoe...has the ramp up to ...

Eagle Pack
I have had Leela on the Anchovy mix of Eagle Pack. About a year straight. Would there be any need to change. And if I just changed to another Eagle protein like the duck/oatmeal, would that need to be introduced slowly ...like I do when I change brands?

grieving chow
What to do with my grieving chowchow. Leela has taken Caitlyn's death very very hard. Even my friend commented last night (not even a dog owner) about the obvious sadness in her golden brown eyes. It seems the only thing that makes her smile is going for a walk or a car ride. She spends most of her ...

Re: Leela's "mommy" is at the bridge
feedigng times are the hardest. I see her bowl. All the food I had prepared for her...you see, the last six months I made her food from scratch. Leela is still sleeping tucked up against her primary bed, the one where she died, just as if Caitlyn was still there. Yesterday, she was laying on the one...

Leela's "mommy" is at the bridge
I haven't posted for a while....have been busy caring for my 16 yo Caitlyn....which finally ended today with the release of her wings and send off to the Rainbow Bridge. Now I am worried about Leela. She was released at home, with Leela and Godzilla present. So they understand, and they got to say g...

Re: How to stop bleeding UPDATE
WONDERFUL!! I researched your advice about the super glue and dermabond and stuff, and contacted my vet. She did her own research and concluded that I could give a liquid bandage a try. Tried it this morning and Caity didn't even try to lick it off right away!! Hopefully we are on to something here!...

My chow Leela was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when we got her from the ASPCA at 11 mos. She has been on adequan injections since about 19 months. Once a month my husband gives it to her. It really, really helps!! no side effects!!!

How to stop bleeding
It's not Leela, but it is Caity. Her nose has a cut on it that will not heal. right at the tip of the nostril. I keep putting ointment on it and she keeps licking it off. And it keeps bleeding. Does anyone have any ideas? Her nose was really chapped and that is taken care of, but I just need to get ...

Reading PA Dog Show
My first dog show....it was KEWL...there were three chows on Saturday...all red, one smooth coat. My personal opinion is that Leela is prettier than any of them
It was interesting, to say the least, to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff.
The show is broadcast on Thanksgiving day.

Re: Opinions Please
I can hardly see to type. My Caitlyn, age 15, is losing power of her hind legs and fretting when I am not in sight. She has been my angel in a life filled with grief. I will think of you often this weekend as I prepare for my own goodbye.

don't know. I had the big bag and pour it out into a manageable container in increments. A piece of white plastic..solid..looked like it was chewed on almost. Sharp on one end. Dense plastic. Scary.

as an update Leela is still on Glycoflex three, pharmceutical-grade fish oil, vit e, Solid Gold Seameal. She started having a run of the runs and some itching...was on Hundenflocken/canned Solid Gold mix...transitioned to Wolf King and Merrick BG (grain free) and she is now back to doing well and ge...

Re: Before you post a ?, here are "How To" Guides
These are WONDERFUL tips. Keep them coming. I especially like the one for the aggressive treat taker. I did teach Leela the "easy" command....but this is even better. She loves hands...and hand signals work really well. She also loves fingernails and to watch as I file mine....go figure. A...
