Re: What does your Chow do thats totally awesome?
Hmm, let me see. I love the way Ty plays. It mimicks our youngest cat and it's adorable, plopping down sideways and rolling around on his back and also using his paws to get things before his mouth. I love that when I take him to petstores he's so well mannered (well, most of the time. I just have t...

Re: Our Chow catches mice !
Aww, that's a beautiful picture. I have two black cats, one 10 year old male, and one 2 year old female. Ty chases them sometimes, but not as often as he used to. They took more and more of the apartment back everytime we left with Ty for a weekend. Now Tulio doesn't tolerate Ty too much. He'll coex...

Re: When are they full grown?
See!That's what I thought too. We met both of Ty's parents and they didn't seem very large to me at all, but everyone kept telling me Ty was going to be "big". His breeder said that his mother is 60lbs and his father is 65lbs so either Ty will just taper out to his father's size or maybe h...

Re: When are they full grown?
I could be wrong about this but I think most dogs end about a year or so. I have a 7 month old male who is already 60lbs and actually pretty lean when soaked lol. I don't know if that means he'll be big or if that's normal, but I'd say there's a good chance he'll be a decent size.

Exactly. I'm actually a certified teacher (though finding a job has been murder right now!) and working on the dog training stuff, but in both I have found that dogs are a lot like children. A lot. So Ty has been (so far, pre-teenager crazy phase) a wonderful companion because the things I teach him...

Re: New to Forum also
Thanking for the advice, but oddly enough these are all things I do and have done with him. I ask people to squat down to his level and stick out their fists and I in turn will stick my hand out close to theirs and guide his nose to their hands. And if successful I tell them to pet under. His crate ...

Re: HAPPY DAY
I agree. It's awful. I didn't start experiencing this sort of discrimination until Ty started to really fill out, probably about the 5 or 6 month mark, so not long ago. I knew there was going to be some issues here and there, because I read about how Chows were frowned upon. I figured, however, that...

Re: New to Forum also
Puppy classes was something I heard about from day one. The problem I had found with them was the cost and the time. My work almost always was during puppy classes and my fiance has a rotating schedule so its hit or miss. I'm not knocking them by any means! But remember, Ty was also my "guinea ...

Hello all! I've been following this forum since I first brought home my Chow puppy, Tiberius and I thought it would be about time to introduce myself. I am a first time chow owner, and believe me before I brought the dog into a household with two cats and me being inexperienced, I researched myself ...
