that is a great idea but there are no chow rescues within my state. Currently the closest chow - chow mix in my area humane societies is 90 miles away so volunteering probably isn't a viable option. I am not opposed to a mix.

Thanks, I was refering to the dogs as kids. I was planning on adopting a chow during my spring break ( I am a teacher) and would have a week to watch and make sure things were going well.
