Re: Twelve years

Thanks all for joining in wishing Zoey an enjoyable day :D Yes; Yelp day=Birthday here. Well Zoey did not get to wear a lamp shade on her head after getting gassed at the Veterinarians for a dental. Her blood work was good, so she is scheduled next week; always makes me nervous. I read at the Veteri...

Re: Puppy Watch 2

As others have said you have the right to your opinion, which may also include an opinion of the source of what is offensive to you; as long as it does not get threatening (Forum rules). Seems to be more behind this than just the contents of my Postings. :( I have enjoyed your stories raw and salty ...

Twelve years

Today Zoey celebrates her twelfth Yelp Day. This morning she went to the Veterinarian for a check-up and a possible dental cleaning. Fortunately for her the blood test had to go out to a Lab and the results will not be available until tomorrow. An appointment is scheduled in the near future. One of ...

Re: Puppy Watch 2

A picture is worth a thousand words, but I now know some pictures need an explanation. For those who are unfamiliar with Chow Chows the picture of the short legged Chow Chow in my first Post "Puppy Watch" may have looked adorable but who knows what physical problems might be in the Puppies...

Re: Puppy Watch 2

What is really bad is that a person or persons are going to patronize those breeders encouraging them to continue on with their behavior. The economy has brought many unscrupulous types more so than ever into the breeding business. If you are displeased with what you see complain to the Forum Modera...

Puppy Watch 2

From the Puppy Classifieds. One Blue Chow Chow not showing a tail. Two Chow Chows on a roof. One Chow Chow on a roof.
This will be my last Post on this subject. =D=

Puppy watch

I have been looking at the Puppies being offered on a popular Pet classified. Here are two of the many Dogs I found. I also found a listing with several Breeds of Dogs. The person Posting the Dogs said they were listing them for a Friend and gave a number and a name, the phone mail box was full. One...

Great advice and clearly presented from Rory's Dad. As stated "Practice, Practice, Practice" and I will add, Patience, Patience, Patience. You were not educated over night and Rome was not built in a day. :)

Re: flea treatment

Fleas can live inside your house twelve months out of the year according to my Veterinarian. I stop using the topical Flea/Tick preventative at the end of November; I fear overuse can be harmful. I start applying the topical preventative beginning of April. I live in the Upper Midwest of the U.S..

Your place of living needs Puppy proofing. Safe chew toys should be provided and inspected regularly. You are lucky your Puppy did not get electrocuted. Check this Forum for information on raising a Puppy before you find yourself Posting on the Memorials section.

Re: Please help me decide

They all look like Chow Chows. No one can determine by just a picture if you are getting your moneys worth. Even the most experienced breeder cannot guarantee a Puppy will be free of defects. You are buying a living creature and just like a Human they need proper care as they grow to become a health...

Re: ANYBODY EVER DARED TO CLEAN THEIR CHOWS TEETH (FANGS)?

Thanks Christina for bringing up the subject of teeth and Juniper for the importance of Dental check-ups. =D= The late Miss Abby's early death may have been avoided if she had preventive Dental maintenance. Fourteen teeth were removed shortly after I had adopted her last November, 2012; a few teeth ...

Re: TO EUTHANASE OR NOT?

Culture clash maybe. Chow ownership seems to unite all us Posters after you strip away the differences. I think that Gyros gave me indigestion, too old for that food any more, I will stay with stir fry veggies and chicken. The smell of chicken has always brought my Chows into the Kitchen with...

Re: TO EUTHANASE OR NOT?

I have been told there is another world out there away from these Chows, but if I go to find it my Chows coming along with me, like it or not. One thing I have learned we can preach our opinion to others but they have to want to make the changes in themselves. It is difficult to see the wa...

Re: TO EUTHANASE OR NOT?

Taking a brake from stir frying over a hot Wok and saw your Post on a subject that has been all to familiar to me this year. The problem as I see is to separate your emotional attachment and step back and put yourself in the animals place. Lucky creatures if they have a compassionate owner, unlike u...

Re: LIVING WITH CHOW MING IN HOT GREECE

Wokman is a play on words, walk/wok, aging Male Chow addict. When I had three Chows until recently this year I seem to spend most of my day walking them. As they grew older and slower and more fussy about who walked with them I found myself being the one trained, and they never even gave me a treat ...

My Chow, Zoey not only grunts she snores loudly and vocalizes with different sounds much like a Bird with its different songs. When she was young she often made sounds like an exotic jungle Bird. :o

Re: LIVING WITH CHOW MING IN HOT GREECE

I did an intense memory search of my thirty-five years of Chow Chow ownership and have seen the stubborn Mule act occur in all six of my Chows at age six and on. If you do not notice any limping or difficulty getting up or laying down for Ming I would say this behavior is another faze in the Chow ba...

Re: LIVING WITH CHOW MING IN HOT GREECE

My Chow Chow Zoey who will soon be 12 years old was a real terror most of the time in her early years. She had a do not touch me attitude, making grooming and Vet visits difficult. In her case over the years it became clear to me it was a fear response to what might be next. I think your Ming may ha...

Re: LIVING WITH CHOW MING IN HOT GREECE

I cannot blame your little one for its behavior with such an awful start to its life. Ming must have us two legged ones on his avoidance list. Chows often do not forget their bad experiences from the early days. It may take a long time to prove to him Humans are not just there to annoy him and give ...

I have left my Chows home alone hundreds of times. I think they probably sleep when left home alone, but only they know what really goes on. \:D/ The longest I have left a Chow home alone was fourteen hours when my car broke down while in a neighboring State. A Family member went to let my poor Male...

Re: Does Anyone Let Their Chow Walk Without a Leash?

No, if my Chows get loose I have a panic attack, since they head for the nearest road. Chows must have some kind of attraction to asphalt. My one Chow Kamie would come back if I called her, once she returned after chasing a Deere, as if she thought she could ever catch it. Maybe Kamie was a Mix afte...

I would keep the two dogs separated and walk them with one person for each dog since things can change in the blink of an eye. She looks like a possible Husky Mix in the picture, Husky's are serious dogs and require an owner that can out match its personality. Did its bite break your skin or was it ...

That Attorney should be reminded that Owners are like their Dogs.
Did you get some kind of Adoption papers when you took Chloe, I did with mine?
