Re: 5 weeks puppy without mother how to handle

Yes, he must stay with his litter mates. He will be able to snuggle up to them, play with them and eat with them and learn some manners. The breeder will be able to feed them all now and when he is 8 weeks old, he will be ready for his new home. :) Meantime, have a nice Christmas and look forward to...

Re: Everyone thinks they know better....

This is awful Jess and I cannot say anything to help. :( However, in a slight defence of your mother, she is probably trying to keep the peace. Family discord is dreadful and if a row erupts it can go on for years, indeed for ever. So, just hang in there, keep your cool if you can and count to ten. :D

Re: Everyone thinks they know better....

Good rant Jess - and I know how you feel - I have been in similar situations years ago. Now! Take a deep breath! Think beautiful thoughts! Imagine you are chasing butterflies in the summer in the country! (Have you got the message?) 8) Christmas can be lovely and it can also be a most difficult time...

Re: Is 7weeks too young to buy a chow?

It is advisable to leave a puppy with its mother until it is 8 weeks old. We brought Matilda home when she was 8 weeks old and she was fine. She took about 3 days to housetrain and with a weeks or so had sorted the household out to just the way she likes it. With Milly in 2000, she was just 6 weeks ...

Re: Is Your Dog a Thief?

I remember one particular instance when our Milly - our first chow chow was a baby. We brought her home when she was only 6 weeks old and a couple of weeks later, just before Christmas, our daughter brought home Harry, a tiny black and white kitten who was only five weeks old and his mother had been...

Our Head Shepherd!

Yesterday, our great-grandson Connor who is three and a half yrs. old was "The Head Shepherd" at his Nursery Nativity play. He was very proud when he came to see us the other day and told us. He was the only shepherd with a speaking part and he stood very proudly in our sitting room and sa...

Re: Love Forever

"Say not in grief she is no more but in thankfulness she was" is I think, a profound statement that can give comfort to those of all faiths and those of no faith. It just about says it all and in my case, when I have lost loved pets always enabled me to smile, even when tears were falling....

Re: Love Forever

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your girl was beautiful. Wish I could say or do something that would help but I can't.

"Say not in grief she is no more but in thankfulness she was."

Prays, hugs and purple kisses winging their way to you.

Yes, you will get a chow to love just as much as you loved Tess. When our Milly died three years this last August, we were broken hearted, even though we still had Mabel. Fred desperately wanted another little girl chow - "......another Milly" he told me and I was so worried for him and ke...

Re: Tess & Me

Have you decided you really want another girl chow? Maybe a boy chow would be nice!¬ :)
I would have rather liked a boy chow but it has not turned out - i heard boy chows are very laid back and less feisty than girls.
Just a thought. :)
