Victory, how are these things turning out for you? The job and the new apartment?

Re: Leonidas and Maximus

Your boys are so wonderful and are growing so fast.

Please keep the pictures coming - we love it when you share your kids. I'm jealous :D , but I still love seeing them.

Re: Vacuum Cleaner suggestions

If you are willing to take a refurbished one and shop around, I think you can find a Dyson Animal Vac for around $350 to $400. Personally, I'm not sure they are worth the increased cost over others, even at that discounted price. I have a Hoover Windtunnel, and it works okay, but I have to clean fur...

Re: What does it cost to keep a pet?

I was thinking of putting the premium money in a savings account, and using it only if a vet related expense arose that was impossible to handle out of the regular budget, or created a vet bill that was impossible to pay off in a reasonable amount of time. Since giving up my chow is unthinkable to m...

Re: We want an other chow... but is it the right time?

There's also the cost involved. Human children can be expensive, and fur children can also be expensive. I can't see why you would have a problem with your current chow and a new baby, as long as it is handled correctly, but if it was my choice I would wait on the second chow. Your family's dynamics...

Re: What does it cost to keep a pet?

I'm glad you started this thread. It's something everyone needs to think about before getting a furchild. My chowboy Brandon cost me quite a bit the last 4 months of his life. I am very thankful that I was able to take him to the end, but it could have turned out differently. Although I don't regret...

Re: Beautiful video of chows adopted in 2011

I just love this video!

I'm starting to think of another chowchild - not quite ready but it takes some time to find the right one. All chows are wonderful, but I want the one that's right for me.

Merry Christmas to Max and Leo - what did Santa bring to you boys for your first Christmas?

Re: Happy thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! I also lost my furry chow buddy of almost 14 years on Sept 29th, but I'm thankful that I was lucky enough to have him at all (still don't know how I was worthy of being chosen by such a wonderful creature to be his human), that I had fantastic vet support through the l...

I'd definitely find another breeder.

For all the reasons others have listed in the above posts.

Re: Please welcome Leo and Max

I think I know what you mean about the color - when I'm ready for another one I'm saying I'm looking for a black one, but the one that I end up with will be the one that chooses me and claims my heart - no matter what color he is (as long as the tongue is blue and he's chow chow!) :D

They are both so adorable! I'm especially fond of Leo, probably because I have always had blue or black chows myself. Congratulations!

P.S. I am jealous, though! :D

Re: Problems with walking :(

I started using a harness on my chowkid, but not because he was pulling when we walked - it was because when his ruff was full his neck was bigger than his head, so a standard collar came right off! :D

Re: Albertz is away to rainbow bridge

No words can make this better for you right now, I know. I will say that I have questions on whether I kept my boy here too long when I should have let him go sooner. My situation is a little different because my boy quietly fell asleep - I got spared from walking him to the Bridge, but I sometimes ...

None of mine have ever drooled. Brandon used to get his ruff and chin wet all the time drinking in the water bowl, but never drooled.

Re: dog whisperer

I don't think alpha rolls really work that well with chows, especially if you start it with an older one. And doing it to a chow that isn't yours and you haven't built a relationship with is very unlikely to work. Also not a real smart thing to do :? At least in my opinion. It's just more evidence t...

Congratulations to Henry on his new home. Glad he is so excited about it.

Congratulations to the new non-fur owners, too :) (As we all know, it seems the chows come first in many ways :D )

I just love Henry - he is so adorable.
