Re: Life just keeps getting harder
Even though he is renovating, I don't understand why someone would get rid of a sure income to take the chance that he/she can rent the new place. After all, he could just request an additional deposit due to the renovations. In any case, sending you purple prayers that you find a nice place for you...

Re: skin allergies and food
I used Purina One for over 10 years without any problems. But as time went on I could afford what I thought was a better quality food. The research I did for my 'kids' said that the biggest cause of allergies in chow chows was corn gluten & wheat gluten (which are basically fillers). I switched ...

Urgent:Please help Coco find transport from LA to Sacramento
Coco.jpg My name is Coco (A4086056 to the folks at the shelter). I am a 4 yr old female cream Chow Chow. My owner left me here at the Baldwin Shelter on December 9th. Some really nice people have networked and found me a foster home but I need a lift from LA to Sacramento. Baldwin Park is a high ki...

Re: How long are they poorly
Amazingly, Bella acted like her normal self the next day but our vet just made a small incision & used inside buried/dissolving stiches. However, like human doctors our vet doesnt believe in giving anibiotics unless the patient show signs of infection so it took a day or two for the infection to...

Re: My Slush Puppy's Op
Yep, 'hang in there' is great advice. I just went thru the same thing myself and was the same way. Then Bella came home & got an infection/fever and I REALLY felt like crap for taking her. But she got over it and 2 weeks later is back to her ususual bossy self ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Worried about Belle after spay surgery
Another update: Thursday night Bella continued to pant even though she was up eating & going outside. Being a worrier, I called the vet after hours & we took her in Friday morning. He said she had a slight temperature and decided to give her antboitics and an anti-inflamatory pill. But consi...

Re: Worried about Belle after spay surgery
Thanks everyone, she seems to be doing better today. She has went outside several times today & she is eating. We are keeping her & Chumley seperate most of the time mainly because he doesn't understand & just wants to play/roughhouse like usual :) But atleast she is up and moving around...

Worried about Belle after spay surgery
Ok, I may just be a worry wort but it would be reasuring to know how some of your furkids acted after being spayed. Belle came home monday & seemed more like herself than she had seemed in weeks (we found out that she has an allergy and was broken out but we couldnt see it until her belly was sh...

Re: Vacation without Nikki
I think the spirits of our departed guide us even though we think we are not ready for another family member. And sometimes when we think we are ready things dont work out. Each time I have lost one of my beloved chow babies I have said no more & each time something pushed me in the other direct...

Re: Buyer's paranoia
Victory is correct, no amount of testing is a guarantee but it doesnt hurt. And I wouldn't worry too much about flying the little guy or girl in...puppies are resilient and as long as you are doing it at this time of the year he/she should be ok. Another sign of a good breeder is one that will not s...

lovechows55 - its possible that a chow puppy raised with the bunny wounldn't chase it kind of like chows that are raised with cats dont chase them. Just a thought.

Re: Is it bad...?
I happen to think 2 chows are the perfect number although I have had as many as 6 at one time. I also think it is better to get a male & female pair since they seem to get along better (none of the alpha nonsense you have with 2 boys). Cinnamon is a rare color. My Noddingham was a cinnamon and h...

Re: Problems with walking :(
Yes, some chows will act like sled dogs but some dont. You should try the tips from Ursa's daddy and decide for yourself. All my chow chows wear (have worn) harnesses. My Leo was so smart, at first I used a slip chain and he figured out that he could leave slack in the lead then back out of the coll...

Re: When will the hurt go away!
Dont feel bad because Albertz 'seemed' to be better. There have been several times in both humans and dogs that I have observed where the very sick appear to be getting better right before they pass away. This may not be a 'popular' answer to your grieving but have you considered adopting another ch...

The only time the alpha roll works is when Belle rolls Chumley when they are playing :) I completely agree with Sirchow...its all about trust. They both may voice their dismay but they know momma is in charge. My husband bonded immediately with Belle and almost daily he would hold her. She would try...

Auddymay you should feel pride...pride that your kids worked together to rid their yard of the intruder. Ok, so the intruder wasnt a real threat but they didn't know that. Pride that after they show such restraint and good behavior as to allow you to take their prize from them. And it really doesn't...

Our Leoette had 2 torn ACL's. We were able to get one side fixed before she got cancer. It was so hard to keep her still. In fact, my door knob still has her teeth marks and the doorway has scratch marks where she tried so hard to go out and play with the rest of the family ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Need help with drooling
In 15 years of being owned by chows I have never had this situation. I have had messy chows but not one that was a drooler. Chumley seems to drool alot. His chin is almost always wet & brown. Do any of you have a drooler and what do you do about it ![Question :?:](./images/smilies/icon_question.gif)
