Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all your reply :) I agree with the positive reinforcement technique and the daily walks. Maybe they are just bored. I'm 8 months pregnant now and walking them seperately has proven to be extremely difficult. They tend to pull in all sorts of direction and not to me...

They're tearing up the house!!!
We've moved about a month ago. The new place is definately bigger, but the yard size is barely half of what we use to have at the old place. We have a 1 yr old chow and a 2 yr old chow. Lately I've been noticing our 2 chows chewing on the walls, chairs, stairs and such. They NEVER did this at the ol...

I AM ANNOYED!!!
I am annoyed!!! here's the story, Our male chow chow was neutered not too long ago. Our younger female show had stopped bleeding already. He constantly wants to mate with her! I can't leave him alone with her for even 5 mins! It's like he's gone bizerk. He even tried to jump through windows to get t...

My Chow is acting different now that I'm pregnant
Now that I'm pregnant I've noticed a change in our eldest chow. He doesn't seem to be to excited when he sees me, when I try to give him a belly rub or pet him he'll let me do it for about 10 seconds then he'll walk away. He's 1 year and 8 months old. We have another chow, she's a 7 month old blue c...

Re: Sasha's first trip to the beach
She is beautiful!! It breaks my heart to hear what Sasha has been through in the past, but I'm happy she found a caring owner now. Well, Sasha has been adjusting to her new home quite well. She follows us around the house and loves giving kisses, which we find quite cute. She is no problem at all an...

Why that name???
What is your chow's name and why did you choose it?
Ours name is Saskay, because we got it from a Japanese anime. Saskay is one of the most strongest, lovable, and people-person character in the show and so it suited our chow.

Great advice guys!! I will pick up a pepper spray this weekend. I'm learning from how well all the members dealt with this situation. I had no idea that chows smelled different or were considered as aggressive dogs towards other dogs because of their posture, tongue, and tail. There's actually more ...

Dog Attack!!
hi everyone!! I've had some really great advice from all the chow owners here and I'm sure my next question would be something most of you have experienced before. Yesterday, my husband took our chow for a walk at the dog park and was confronted by another male dog (not really sure what kind it was,...

I could sort of relate to your situation. When we first got Sas-kay, he was very anti-social. His previous owner didn't take him out, always had him in the house and pretty much didn't have time for Sas-kay (Sas-kay came from a big family) When we first got Sas-kay he was a scared little chow, didn'...

Thank you sooooo much for the all the support!! :) As of this moment our chow is back at home. When he first arrived all he did was stayed out front on the patio and stared off onto the street. We let him rested to regain his energy. But now he's much better. He's excited for his daily dog park walk...

Bad news
Before leaving for vacation, we dropped off our chow with some family member. He was doing good, but i notice he seemed a little sad. When we arrived at our destination, only a few hours later we received a message. The sad part was that we hadn't checked the messaged until the next day in the eveni...

Thank you all very much for the advices and comments. Our chow is almost 1years old and he sure loves to play. I really agree on the not using positive reinforcement when he snaps at strangers. We haven't tried the muzzle (spl?), and hope that we won't have to. His previous owner never socialized hi...

Help!! our chow chow almost bit somebody!
While at the dog park with our chow chow a neighbour approaches with his dogs. The neighbour leans over and wanted to pet our pup, but our pup just snaps back and barks at him and seems as though as if he were ready to bite the neighbour. Help!! our chow is very protective and we're trying our best ...

Food to feed our new puppy chow chow.
Hello everyone! I'm a proud owner of our new chow chow puppy. He's the most cutest thing I've ever laid eyes on. Lately, he doesn't want to eat his usual doggie meals--purina dry foods and such. He will give it a few licks and be done with it. The only thing he eats is what I eat. If I'm eatting a h...

I need your advice
after discusing with my husband about adopting a pet. We decided on getting a Chow Chow dog. The day we had to bring our chow chow home, I was away at work, so my husband went. I'm not home often, if I'm lucky I get to spend time at home 3 days a week. Now our chow chow seems to only have one master...
