Re: Worth breaking the "guard dog" mentality?

Are these people new to you too?? Or are they friends? Maybe she's reading your vibes. It sounds like she's very well-adjusted otherwise. I could never trust mine off leash...they'd head for the hills!

Re: Worth breaking the "guard dog" mentality?

Welcome!!! We love mixes here too!! I have a knucklehead Chow/retreiver. We love pics!! Anyway, I guess your question is should you attempt to change your dog's behavior. Good luck with that if she has a Chow mentality!!! It doesn't sound like it's been a problem for you, so why mess with it?...

Re: Front leg problem

I'd probably get the x-rays done sooner rather than later. I'd also stick with the food he's been eating and use supplements. Samantha gets Happy Hips (joint and heart) chicken strips every morning. She prefers the tempurpedic style dog beds. My vet also recommended fish oil to help with Sammy's art...

Re: Front leg problem

Sorry to hear Shiba isn't doing too well. You can bet if he's limping a little that means he's probably in a great amount of pain. Chows are so stoic and often refuse to show their pain. I'm going through a little of this, but mine is due to old age. I try to give Samantha Glucosamine & Chondroi...

Re: Maxine

I don't know if she's mixed with anything. She reminds me of a tiny version of Ping. Her coloring definitely reminds me of Maxwell. With some grooming, good food and love, she's going to be a beauty.

Re: Moving back to the states

Welcome home Red (almost)!! I think most base housing is privatized and that's where the breed restrictions come in now. I can make some calls for you if you want. I know most of the bases/posts in San Antonio don't allow Chows in base housing. I love the Gulf Coast region. I think it's got a great ...

Thanks everyone, but I can't take the credit. Bama gave me the idea. I'm sure Maxwell is smiling at the Rainbow Bridge at the thought of helping some of his pals.

A tribute to Maxwell

A few of us were wondering how we could help David through the loss of his beloved Maxwell. I mentioned it to David and he said all the costs had been paid for Maxwell's surgery and cremation. I asked him if he'd mind if we took up donations and send them to a rescue in Maxwell's honor...of course h...

Re: My Jewelery Internet shop...non chow

This is great Sharon!! I've been going on a lanyard spree lately. I bought four of them from etsy, but have only received two so far. I paid for them on 2 Jan, so I'm guessing I'm out of luck for them. We might have to work out some commissioned work. Now that I can wear crazy things (no more...

Awww poor guy. Does he like fans? Sammy does, so I made sure the fan was turned on her while she was trying to sleep. And as they say "this too shall pass". Maxwell knows you're only doing what's best for him.
