One of her Chows did, so she got another pup and gave him the same name. The dog in the video is the new pup, now 2 years old.

Re: Do you have a doggy door?
Yes I have a dog door that fits into the frame of a sliding glass door. It works great and my chow, Sweetie, uses it all the time. I have one like this. http://www.petdoors.com/thermo-panel-iiie.html The only downside is that I can no longer use the sliding door for me. It is now a dedicated dog doo...

Re: How to find a qualified vet
If you know any Chow breeders in your area, I'd check with them and see which vets in your area they would recommend for a Chow. If you don't know any Chow breeders, you might find out if there are any regional Chow clubs in your area and contact them for a recommendation. http://chowclub.org/ccci/c...

Re: Solid Gold plant sold
The following quote is from Solid Gold's web site. It appears that if you live in one of the states mentioned, then you will no longer be getting dry food from their California manufacturing facility, but instead from their Missouri facility. If you don't live in one of the mentioned states, it soun...

Re: How did you meet your chow?
I first met my Chow, Sweetie, when she was a very small pup, probably a week or less old. I didn't know at the time that she would eventually become my chow. Her breeder is a friend of mine, and she had just had two litters of pups born. I really wanted to get a pup from Sweetie's litter because it ...

Re: Thank god for microchips
Sweetie is doing well. I stopped by the SPCA yesterday to personally thank them and left them a donation. I also asked them to thank the animal control officer. I am very glad that they found her and she didn't get hit by a car.

Thank god for microchips
I just thought I'd share this with you all. Yesterday when I got home, I had a message on my answering machine from Animal control. Sweetie had gotten out and was found running around loose. Animal control was able to get her and took her to the SPCA. As you can imagine, this really shook me up. For...

Re: flea and tick medication
I've never had a problem with fleas where I live; however, I really don't want Sweetie to get any either. So as a kind of preventative, I've been giving her this vitamin supplement that is supposed to help http://www.fleaaway.com/ . I can't say for sure whether it works, since we really don't have f...

I use this kind of gate so both the cats and I can easily go in the room, and Sweetie has to stay out. It works real well.

Re: Martha got a new Chowling
No this is a new chow puppy; not the one that passed away in the fire. If you check the date that she posted the picture, it is January 17th of this year. My understanding is that she gave him the same name in honor of the one that passed away.

Re: Is your chow a Lion or a Bear?
I think Sweetie, my chow, looks like a lion, but has the heart of a teddy bear with the independence of a cat. Sometimes I look at her giving me that look that only a Chow could, and I just have to give her a big hug.

Re: HELP - maxine found a kitten
As for cat toys, I"ve found that kittens love to play with a little bit of paper that is rolled up into a ball. The ball has to be small enough that they can pick it up with their mouth. I used to do this with newspaper. I would throw the wadded paper ball and the kitten would go after it. Once...

Re: Your chow in 3 words or less
Sweet, smart, and sneaky
Sweet because she has lots of tail wags and kisses.
Smart because I know she knows what I am saying and what the rules are.
Sneaky because she knows to get in trouble when I'm not there to see it.
