Re: Blue Merle Chow Chow
I appreciate that I'm not the only one skeptical about these "merle" pups. The "breeder" who I got my dog from sells them also.

To neuter or not to neuter
Hello all, I have a fabulous Chow named Tao. He is about a year and a half now and I have not neutered him. I am unsure if I should. I don't want to change his personality, but I hear that neutering doesn't change it too much anyways. What I am most worried about is neutering him given the fact that...

Re: OVER socialized Chow? Maybe in some cases
My pup has always been friendly (given he's only 1 year old) and I've noticed that when he was younger (~6 mo.) he would run up to people and whimper if they did not pet him, now he is definitely more standoffish and if he sees someone shady he will stare and growl. At home, I don't really have anyo...

I've also been feeding my pup Blue Buffalo grain/gluten free formula, it seems to be good stuff!

Re: Toys for my new boy
Almost all chows I've had have loved soft plush toys, and ones with eyes they can pull off, just make sure he doesn't eat the stuffing! The best part is they don't care whether it's the $10 ones or just ones from the dollar store, as long as they're soft!

Re: which food is better?
My pup is just graduating to big boy food (awww) but I have also been feeding him blue buffalo puppy formula (the grain/gluten free kind) and now I've switched to the same adult formula. He seems to like it pretty well! Also, it is much better than the bigger named brands for his development in my o...

Re: Advice for new chow owner
You can get water bowls that have a plastic cover with just a small round opening so their fur doesn't get all wet, it is what we used for our show Chows, however I cannot remember where we got them. They are probably available at a big pet store.

Re: Breaking my heart :(
I crated my pup for about 2 days and couldn't stand the whimpers any more. He never did his business in the house so I did not really see the point for it. A good thing about crate training, however, is that it gives your pup a safe place to go (I had a fluffy blanket and toys in his crate and he we...
