Re: Eating habits
I too do not use cups as a measurement, he has around 230 grams of dry food per day and he has started having rice krispies with skimmed milk for breakfast. His dry is split into 2 meals per day and he eats all of it most days. He has just turned one and weighs around the 28kg mark.

Re: So hard to see her so sad
You are doing the very best for her by loving her at the moment, I am sure she appreciates it. Have you considered hydrotherapy? I have read a lot of articles about it, I so believe I saw a program on it too. Best of luck to Bramble. Big purple kisses from Rio xx

Re: Should i give my Chow Chow a Lion Cut?
Everywhere I have read about Chows there are different opinions on what to feed, how to train etc. The one and only thing I have ever seen that is of the same opinion, is never shave a chow. Unless medically advised to do so, the people responsible for coming up with that stupid lion-cut should be s...

Your original topic header sounded like the opening line of a joke! Excellent that the experience of chow owning can assist with the "non-stubborn" breeds.

I am a bad enough influence on my grandson, and apparently my daughters all take after me ( according to hubby) I just hope she isn't as sullen as her mummy

Re: Kodi is a Big Boy
Rio just turned one and weighs 57lbs at the moment, I am trying to keep his weight down, but appear to be failing! He isn't a fatty and I can easily feel his ribs,so I guess some Chows just get big Kodi is gorgeous, but I am somewhat biased, Rio being black too.

Re: My little chow puppy has ectropium of the eyelid
If you can take your chow to a charity vets, you will probably get a different response. We had the same advice from a vet,he couldn't wait to get Rio under the knife,we took him to a charitable vets (the type that take donations) and the advice there was that they could see nothing wrong with his ey...

Re: Today marked a year without Nikki and it was hard
Hang in there, memories and emotion are humans way of dealing with loss. Without the feeling of loss and grief you would be a sociapath!!!!! Oh gosh that sounded harsh, wasn't meant to. It's good to go to places where happy memories are, having a good cry actually helps with the loss too.

Re: Lola being dirty on furnitute
I am not going to give any comments on the behaviour, everything has been covered. Use biological washing powder diluted in a spray bottle to get rid of the urine smell properly. It has to be biological and it has to be the powder type. If the cushion comes off the sofa remove it and spray liberally...

Re: How did u get your chow use to being brushed
Personally I 'get' Rio when he is tired from a walk or after his food. If I do try to brush him at other times he will put up with it for maybe 15 minutes but gets bored!!!! I too groom on the floor, I am not lifting his highness onto a grooming table he weighs over 50 pounds.

Only going by the photos you have posted and comparing to chow pups and spitz pups, I would say cross. Only because of the shape of her ears and shape of her paws, and her muzzle is a little iffy.

Re: How long before I see improvement in lola
As regards the water intake, like the food post I answered on, there is a ratio to this too!!!! Per one pound in weight of dog they require 1 fluid ounce of water. This is the minimum, weather can be a factor, but as long as the ratio is not ridiculously above ie, 10 times that, then water intake wo...

Re: Need help. Are these foods healthy?
Good quality dog food (no un-necessary additives) are usually fed on a weight to food ratio of 1.2%, ie, dog weighs 10kgs you would feed 120gs per day. Obviously for the lower end spectrum of food the ratio increases as the weight is bulked up by additives and corn.

Re: puppy squeaks when i am not with her
Don't get pneumonia to prove a point, if it is standard lovely british weather, go back in but completely ignore her, don't pet her until you have been inside maybe a minute. Obviously when the weather is better (sometime this century) you can then show her that you are not returning because she has...

Re: Puppy keeps barking at cats
Hi Tan, we have four Ragdoll cats and Rio (chow) he still barks at our cats, but it is not aggression, he generally wants to get to them through the safety gates. When he does get to one, usually our bi-colour Blueberry, he will stand over him and lick him to death, he ends up looking like a drowned...

Sounds like my kind of weekend, so glad you have had the celebration you both wanted. I would have nice quiet personal celebration than an over the top to-do.
So in another 10 years,(touch wood) will it be five one year old Chows?????????
