Re: My Jazz-Man
Love from my Trooper, to Jazz-Man - His pictures just want you to reach out and hug him! Was looking up skin, allergies on forum, and here you were. Trooper also had a severe reaction to his rabies/distemper shot, his fur clumped out at the 2 injection sites, weakened areas so continued from there. ...

Re: who uses what to treat hot spots?,,,
With ongoing skin, fur issues, Trooper is taking natural supplements, like salmon oil, flax seed oil for omega's, kelp powder and evening primrose mixed in with pure pumpkin. He gobbles it up at breakfast. Allergens are out there, this tends to help counter the reality. All good items for even us fo...

Re: Is my Chow chow a pure breed or not?
Been a few more months - has the ear perked up? The coloring and size are natural - my Chow Trooper is now 4 yrs. and he weighs in at 48-52 lbs. fluctuating at times. He is on the smaller end of scale and his predecessor Bandit was around the 50 lb. mark too. Not sure on the spotty tongue - could st...

Trooper gets them - use touch of no tear baby shampoo on warm wet cloth - just in case some irritant or dirt present.

Re: Chow's Tail (help)
Someone else on the site - had similar experiences - was advised to check the *Censored Word* sacs - could be causing discomfort - a vet would need to 'express' them if you were unable or needed to learn how. Just a thought. I once had Trooper do this but he was found to be in a 'low mood' and it so...

I should have read on further - My sympathies - I lost Bandit last year Mother's Day - couldn't stand the lonliness. I now have Trooper and waited only about 2 1/2 months. I just couldn't help myself - what a wonderful decision - Trooper is the centre of our universe and the best thing we did for ou...

Re: Any suggestions?
Hello - Trooper is content to sleep when I am away - but seems to like chewing on raw hides the longest. Have you tried small childrens 'stuffies' Trooper took to a small woolly lamp - a babies stuffy - he carries around as his 'baby'. I would also check those paws - could be an allergy? Good luck!

Trooper also has kinky/curly fur under his chin - and totally because he is a sloppy drinker. You are right - just brush it out. Trooper is 13 months today.

Hello; Trooper just shed his first coat - he is 13 months old today! and he shed just over the last 2 weeks - I was also waiting and waiting - but the telltale signs are the 'fluff' balls starting to float around the stairs & corners of the floors - then I knew things were starting. He looks 5 l...

Hello; I havn't been on the site for a while either. My chow Trooper is now almost 11 months old. Same ailments from birth was itching, skin problems, crusts and open sores that wouldn't heal. Slipped on ice and limped around for a while and reinjured easily until the weather improved here (Canada)....

"Eggs are an excellent food for the skin and coat, containing important B-vitamins, sulfur, protein, etc."
Hi, Kiwani - I just remembered - eggs are 'chicken' & possibly the reason I havn't given them too often to Trooper - if allergy & that I changed him to Lamb only. Comments?

Hi, My male chow Trooper (now 9 1/2 mos) as a puppy (2 months)came home with a runny nose and red bumps under his nose I thought was from moisture. He also had small crusty bumps on his head and ears which I thought were from his siblings sharp teeth. He also snored & breathing was 'congested' T...
