Berkley revisited-Warning
Many of you might remember when Jeff and I managed to save Berkley from an LA kill shelter last year. Unfortunately, I found last night that my email adress and home phone number were posted on Google, taken from a post about donations and getting Berkley from Los Angeles to New Mexico. I am stunned...

Re: If you want to know where we went...
Wow, Charles. You need to get a grip. As someone who hasn't even joined (your own admission) you came in like an unfriendly person who had no knowledge of the past goings-on here. Usually best to keep one's comments to oneself until they "get it." Perhaps doing some reserach might be more ...

Re: If you want to know where we went...
Just to make things clear. About Berkley, I chipped in with Jeff to get Berkley out of the LA kill shelter and subsequently spent hundreds of dollars on his veterinary care during the brief 90 days he was here until he died of that massive chest tumor. About Fozzie, Julia didn't "send" me ...

...check out the new Chow site at mychowchow.org. You'll find all your old buds there. Some of us just got sick of being castigated and banned for speaking our minds. As you all know, who are members of other sites and groups, there are moderators who enjoy the power trip and use it like a sword. So...

Re: when do chows stp growing
My "little" Foz-Bear is just 10-1/2 months old. I took him to the vet on February 7th to get him weighed and check for potential entropian. (No entropian, Julia!) He weighs 69.8 pounds!!! Monster Chow! He appears to be a big boned boy and built like a tank. I have to assume then, tha...

Re: Titus Turns Two!
Sorry we missed the Big 2, Titus. You are such a gorgeous boy. A stunner, Jackie. I always love seeing his pics below your posts.
That birthday pic is so awesome, I'm sure you could enter it into some photo contests and certainly win something!
How did you get him to sit at the table like that????

Yeah...too much good food and excitement when they're stressed will definitely provide you with some extra messes to clean up, but see? The next night, she already was a good girl! Hurray for Sunshine! She sounds just wonderful and she's so lucky you found her. Well...you know the drill now...more p...

Re: A Little Angel-Non-Chow
Tabitha's post (above) on my craigslist posting for the pup is THE one, so you can check out the link and take a look at her. Unfortunately, the woman who called me late last night turned out NOT to be the pup's lost mom. She and I talked more this morning and she burst into tears on the phone when...

Re: A Little Angel-Non-Chow
I did the photobucket thing, but couldn't figure out how to get them from there to our group's site. I read AuddyMay's post several times, but it's not sinking in....LOL Since I posted earlier, I've had a total of SIX people wanting little Dolly. Also, I let the Golden Retriever girls inside with he...

A Little Angel-Non-Chow
First, let me say that if you guys only knew how far out in the boonies I live (mountains of New Mexico...remember? I was Berkley's Mom). This place is not only doggie paradise, but coyote heaven. I've already lost four cats to those b*stards in the past two years. That's why I have big-ass dogs, in...

Re: Interesting e-mail
When I had a horse for sale last year, I got dozens of emails like this one. These are foreigners who are in it for the scam. They profess to be interested in the purchase and then will agree to send you a "cashier's check" and will include "extra" for the shipping costs. Thing i...

Re: I Love you Oso!
I'm so sorry for the pain and grief you're going through. Many of us have lost our Chow kids and always find this particular part of the Chow site hurtful to read, but we do it anyway, if for no other reason than to give support when someone loses their beloved Chow. I lost two Chows this year...Wal...

Re: I have a confession to make
Fozzie is DEFINITELY a a huge boy! Wally was 3/4 Chow and 1/4 Golden Retriever (he had the most beautiful coat) and weighed 80 lbs. in his prime. I took some more pictures of Foz tonight and in one of them, he's next to our Anatolian Shepherd, Lucy, who weighed in at 114 lbs. this past weekend at th...

Re: Marley & Me - Book
Two more awesome books for Christmas gifts. I just finished both of them and wouldn't go to sleep until 2 or 3 a.m. 'cause I couldn't put either one down. One is The Story of Edgar Sawtelle (an amazing human and dog story--don't let the fact that it was an Oprah Book Club pick turn you off) and the ...

Re: Is this wierd??
Dear Maxwell, All five of us have discussed your idea this afternoon and think we'll suggest this to our human. Since all of the human neighbors have at least four of us canines each, it would be really fun to share cool toys. Usually all the humans do is give each other bottles of booze for the hol...

Re: I have a confession to make
Oh...and one more thing. I had Fozzie neutered on his 6-month birthday, along with a very thorough physical exam focusing on Chow-specific health issues, like entropian and crappy knees. (My vet is becoming very knowledgable about Chows since she's treated three of mine now in rapid succession.) In ...

Re: I have a confession to make
I haven't posted for a while, but now that Julia has come forward about her unexpected litter, I can now tell you all that Fozzie is my baby Chow that I adopted from Julia after I lost Wally in late January and my beloved Berkley in August after his dramatic rescue on May 5th (thank you again, Jeff....

Karen, I posted a couple of days ago, but please take this one in the spirit with which it is given. In January, Wally crashed on Sunday. We had to help him get up off the floor. It was so sudden and unexpected. I took him to the vet (an emergency call...don't our critters always schedule thieir ill...

I think Joey is beginning to tell you it's time...but you will know that moment. It is unmistakable. The most painful thing is that he's so young. But Karen, look at it this way, if you can...you have had a wonderful year with this wonderful, unique and loving little guy who will have changed your l...

Re: We love the cold
We love the cold here in the New Mexico mountains, too. It snowed about an inch this morning before I left for work and I watched the dogs, all five of them, running around like someone put Mexican jumping beans up their butts. And, Fozzie's zoomies are hilarious. If my husband isn't home, Fozzie wi...

Hey there...just an idea...you could check with Linda at the West Texas Chow Rescue. She could tell you more about what it takes to do the resuces and put them up for adoption. She has a first-class rescue and probably knows all the ins-and-outs. Jut Google West Texas Recue. She's a really fine pers...

Re: Beautiful young red female needs a home
Thank you SO much for taking KoKo in!
Here's something to have the vet check: If she won't let anyone touch her back or tail, have him check the alignment of her spine. If she was kicked and beaten, that treatment might have knocked her spine out of alignment. Just an idea...
