First I would like to say that my heart goes out to all of the Chows that were lost in the PA kennel fire. May God be with all of their little souls. I am getting my new female next Thursday and am really anxious to get her home. I have a one year old male now. My question is, what is the best way t...

Whisker question.
Just a quick question. May sound silly but bear with me. My dog has 2 or 3 whiskers that are over his right eye lid and come over his eye. Does this obstruct his visin or does it get annooying. I can nly imagine if I had 3 strings over my eyes it would drive me crazy. Should I cut them/ Is that dang...

Re: Avery's Ears..
He doesnt get hicups and shows no signs of being sick like being mushy or sleeping alot.
He shakes about 3 or 4 times as soon as he comes in from outside. Then may not shake for hours. I do notice its mostly when he comes in from the out side.
Thanks for your help. Everyone.

Avery's Ears..
Hi all, I have a question for you. My male just turned one the other day and for about a month now he is shaking his head. He stays outside all the time and at first I thought maybe it was just his reaction to the cold weather. I took him to the vet and he said there doesnt look like anything is wor...

I was thinking the same thing. You never see a Chow on Cesares show. If Avery got into one of his moods all of the "cst-ing" in the world wont move him.

Re: warning
Funny, my last chow "Cash" that pasted away a few years ago shed so much. I would take her in the middle of the street outside my house and actually rub the hair off of her and let the wind take it down the street. I swear it looked like the old west and her hair looked like the tumble weed.

Re: Can they drown?
Yes, be extremely careful with Chws around water. I heard that because their back legs are straight they dont swim as easily as other dogs do.Use a chest harness with a long leash. May work better.

Re: Want to get another Chow..Need Advice
Thank you all for some great and helpful feed back. He has ben around other dogs but only for a short period of time. My wives biggest concern , and this may sound funny, is that he is extremely affecionate and that may change. Whenever you ask him for a hug and kiss he puts his paws on your shoulde...

Avery's lease problem...help
My 12 week old pup just doesnt want to be put on a lease. I guess because he has a dog pen and a nice size yard to run free in. Its hard to take him anywhere because once you get his collar on and start to walk and pull him he lets out a huge "yelp". I swear it sounds like he just got shot...

Re: help! aggressive puppy...
At 5 months he could still be teething.Only you would know if his bites are playfull or aggressive. My suggestion would be not to put the leash on him as a form of punishment. If you use that same leash to walk him it might be sending mixed signals.Walking a young dog does release a lot of aggression...

Re: Panting??
Thanks for the suggestion. I do notice he loves the tile floor as well as laying in the cool water after I use the garden hose. If he was hurting I think it would effect his daily routine. He runs and jumps around in the yard so Im not worried about any injuries. I was worried about maybe some breat...
