Re: Chow Chows and cats?
I had my cat for about 7 months before I got Cookie. Cookie was 6 weeks when I brought her home so the cat STILL thinks he rules the roost. The cat will just jump up on the bed when he's had enough. It's hilarious to watch them play. Cookie could swallow him whole and the cat will go and provoke her...

Re: Severe Allergies and Itching
I absolutely think they are seasonal. She is fine except in the spring. The bleeding is new this year though. She is only scratching above her eyes to that extreme. I do have some of those fish oil capsules that the vet gave me as well. Do you puncture them and add them to their food Auddymay? That ...

Severe Allergies and Itching
HELP!! Has anyone had any luck with any medications for allergies? My baby has been chewing on her paws and scratching her eyes until her skin bleeds. I have tried Benadryl and Temaril P (which the Vet gave me). Last spring the Temaril seemed to work great. This year, nothing is working. I don't kno...

Re: Itching for 12 weeks...our struggle...need suggestions
Hi my chow chow is seemingly suffering from seasonal allergies. We went thru this last spring as well and the vet gave us an antihistamine which isn't doing ANYTHING this year. I have resorted to giving her benadryl and it does not seem to be working either. In fact, I came home tonight and she has ...

Re: My chow will let no one touch her!!! Please help
Wow! I haven't been on here in ages, but just thought I'd let all of you know that I found a WONDERFUL groomer! She told me don't you dare sedate her. She said she could not get a good "feel" for the dog if it is sedated. I told her that "nice" did not work for Cookie and she sai...

Re: The Grief...(LONG)
I'm so sorry for your loss. I am approaching the one year anniversary of losing my Grizzly Bear to cancer. The vet removed a huge growth from his throat that was cancerous and she said that I might have another 6 months to a year with him. She was not able to get all of the tumor because it was so d...

Re: My chow will let no one touch her!!! Please help
That's a good point. She has NEVER actually bitten anyone but I'm saying that attitude ain't gonna fly around this house. Maybe the trainer tomorrow can give me some tips on showing her who is the boss. I really do love her. I feel so bad because I lost my 2nd chow to cancer a year ago in September ...

Re: My chow will let no one touch her!!! Please help
I am using a rake. It just breaks my heart to have her try and bite me. I completely trusted my boys. I would put my hand in their mouths. My second chow came from a no kill shelter and from the minute he moved in I loved him/he loved me and that was the end. She obvioulsly trusts me since she'll le...

Re: My chow will let no one touch her!!! Please help
She would run away from the hose. I don't really think it's the bathing part so much as the brushing. She seemed to do fine in the shower and that's how I bathed her when she was little. She was just recently to the vet and the only thing wrong with her is her attitude. My vet said I needed to get a...

Re: My chow will let no one touch her!!! Please help
I put her in the shower with me and she did fine with that but my water pressure sucks and her coat is so thick. I brushed her the best I could and she was fairly ok with that. When I went to brush her rear end she was ok at first but then when she'd had enough, she growled and snapped at me. I just...

My chow will let no one touch her!!! Please help
Hello, My name is Amy and I have a 9 month old female cinnamon chow. In the past month she has started some seriously agressive behavior toward other people and I cannot find anyone that will groom her. She shows no agression toward me or my family; only to strangers. I had taken her to Petsmart twi...
