Re: Help! Husband doesn't want another dog...
I say go with fostering. You can warm him up to the idea of a permanent addition again without the pressure. Plus you'll be helping out a chow until they can find a permanent home.

Re: Why that name?
Okay so I guess I'll go through the whole pack. Starting with Ginger Snap. She just has the coloring for a Ginger and I love Ginger Snap cookies. Bel, the bloodhound, is short for Belvadear (I have no idea how to spell it) and he came with the name. Max, the dachshund, is short for Maxwell Q Clinger...

Re: Biting- an Acceptable Behavior?
I don't think biting is acceptable but at the same time a 10-11 week puppuy biting is not suprising. Depending on what they have or have not been taught up until that point they might not know that biting is not the way to go. Ginger was still chomping on people at that age and only stopped after we...

That's great to hear. I'm glad Peyton was able to go to a good home even if it means somewhere else. That's probably best for wyllow though.

Re: Gracie went to work with me
That's great! I'm sure Gracie will suprise you and be ready as soon as you are. I'm overly cautious with all of our dogs just because I would never want them in the position to bite someone either so taking the time to gradually work up to her taking a tour is a good idea.

Re: chows and children
Hi and welcome to the site! I have a two and a half year old little girl. We have three dogs, Max, a daschund, Ginger, chow mix, and Bel, bloodhound. Ginger is the youngest and is only about six monthes old and is a mix so she's a little different than pure chow I guess. Anyway since my daughter was...

Re: Biting - will she grow out of it?
Gaznzimfan what your chow is doing sounds like what everyone on here calls a zoomie. If you read through some of the general section maybe you'll see that word pop up a lot. We all get excited the first time our pups do them.

We have the bissell pro heat! I love it, although there is one stain I cannot for the life of me get out even with it. Anyway focusing on the actual question...we use a pee cleaner up called Unique that is food in the feed type of pet stores. Theres also Nature's Miracle that people on here swear by...

I joined this site rather than buy a book. Its free and I can have specific questions answered with many different perspectives. You are stuck with just one thinking and idea you can work with what sounds best for you and your chow based on your experience with them that way. Just thought I would th...

Re: Chow Chow Afraid of Boyfriend
Are you in Tennessee? That has ntohing to do with your question but I live around Chattanooga...anyway...like the others said don't force it. I would have your boyfriend ignore her completely. Let him be the one to feed her but other than that ignore her. Eventually she will come around. If she star...

Re: Chow with an attitude
Without knowing the full story its hard to offer much helpful advice in my opinion. No your chow should not be biting but remembering where Ginger was at that age in her bite inhibition training it isn't unexpected at times. Without knowing the full details of what actually happened....were you arou...

How adorable! It amazes me some of the stuff that can get into our chows heads. I don't have the will power to say no to any of the dogs. Max doesn't even try doing tricks to get what he wants he just gives me the sad eyes till I gave.

Re: Butters on the loose
I adore Butters! I just love hearing about his escapeds and quirks. He has so much personality. We had a chow growing up that would get of her lead in the backyard and run around the house and sit at the front door waiting for someone to find her. I never understood the frontdoor thing because she w...

Ooo...puppies. How exciting! I wish I could get another one but our house is overloaded as it is. DH told me I had to stop looking at the chows that need a home section because I try to convince him to take in every single one. I'm so excited for you though.

Re: Pekoe and the rain
Ginger doesn't seem to mind the rain. She just stands out there as if it is perfectly normally. She doesn't handle the towels or blow dryer well. I'm glad she started using her doggy door. We are putting one in this spring I think so Ginger can run back and forth as much as she wants without me havi...
