Re: Puppy school graduate

We start Paz in classes on the 21st! I can't wait! I love being around a bunch of people doting on their dogs! And I think he'll do really well.........he's doing well at home (day six)

Your baby looks very proud of himself----like he KNOWS he accomplished something.

Re: Hello Our presentation

Gordo looked over my shoulder and Chumi's hair and now he wants me to take him to get HIS hair done that way! I love it with the big lion mane.......so beautiful! I always feel like the most IMPORTANT person when I walk at the park with my little lion---he commands attention.

Day 4, moving along

Hi Thanks for all of your input. I am not having any issues with Paz and Gordo......I mean, occasionally Gordo will growl when Paz tries to take his bone. For the most part, Gordo seems very secure that he's still number one. That really makes me laugh about him---he is so self-assured. It's going t...

I love that picture. Occasionally a photo captures the essence of having pets..........and those two serious lookers, with your pommy in the corner, looking like he just can't wait another minute-----I can picture the scene perfectly! What an adorable trio!

More info and photos

Hey there! Thanks for looking! We picked the name Paz because we wanted to keep it spanish. When we adopted Gordo he was already named----Gordo means fat in spanish (don't ask, I didn't do it! And no, he's NOT fat). So I looked up some words in spanish, and peace in spanish is Paz. The puppy is laid...

!st day with Paz

Here he is! I went down to Virginia yesterday and picked out Paz, the only cinnamon one they had--the rest were red. Initially Gordo became a little insecure, but now that he sees that Paz looks up to him, he's been pretty accepting. We had our parents over for a meet and greet, and Paz did a tour o...

Re: Gordos First Camping Trip: Blackwater Falls

Gordo wanted to go in..........that's the first time we've really had him exposed. He was really thirsty (even though we kept giving him water) and seemed to like the cold water. He was selective about how deep he wanted to go, but it was the cutest thing. We thought it was good for him to cool down...

Gordos First Camping Trip: Blackwater Falls

Here are some photos of Gordo's first vacation with us. We camped at Blackwater Falls...........Gordo got pretty excited about the deer on our campsite, but overall he was such a good boy. http://picasaweb.google.com http://lh4.google.com/socialwork555/R6ZbUw76HGI/AAAAAAAABV4/sg6ndJJFIU8/100_1322.JP...

Gordo's getting a friend!

Hello
We looked at some dogs this weekend (not very good fits), and after a lot of thinking, talking, and rationalizing, we have decided to get a chow puppy tommorrow! I will let you know how it goes! I can't wait to have a little teddy bear of our own!

That's so cute! I can't believe how bold your bird is! I didn't realize they had so much personality. I will stick to four-legged friends, but I will keep your experience in mind. We'll give it a good shot, no matter what!

Thanks,

Re: Advice on a sister for Gordo.....

We see the new dog on Saturday, so it's really just a meeting time. I am not going to get my hopes up. If it doesn't work out with Dixie I will take your suggestions and consider another chow........there's a seven-year-old named Egypt who we've had our eye on. But I am really nervous about another ...

Re: Clicker training

I talked to a very-respected professional trainer about getting Gordo to calm down around the cats, and she swore by the clicker......she acted like it was going to work a miracle for us. But because we didn't do OUR part and really follow through, I can't tell you for sure if it's effective. It's r...

Advice on a sister for Gordo.....

Hi, We've had Gordo for about a year now (started out as fostering but he never did leave, so that's just fine). He's still not completely safe with my cats, but since buying a new larger house with a yard, we've managed to make it work with "cat house time," and a special cat room complet...

Re: What would you do (realisticly?)

I think you should set some rules about having company over. Don't feel bad about wanting your WHOLE family to be together. Was someone allergic or anything? If they were cats, would they ask you to put the cats outside? I happen to believe that anyone who doesn't enjoy animals has a serious charact...

Have cat issues myself!

Chow Chow Gordo has been a maniac about Snowy and Greens (the cats) for a year now. He tends to get overly excited about Greens because she acts exactly like prey---she jets like a little squirrel and completely freaks out. We've had all sorts of close calls when Greenley for some idiotic reason jum...

Troy does sound tricky

I have been reading your responses to Troys owner, and Troy does seem kind of special........a chow who is that needy? My Gordo is awesome, but my biggest complaint is that he needs too much space (he won't sit next to me on the couch, won't sleep on the bed at my feet, doesn't like too close for to...

Hello Gordo likes to wrestle and when he does it he DOES play bite, and I had no idea that this was such a bad habit to get into. I guess we just thought it was cute and playful, but on occasion he HAS left bruises, although I haven't made a big deal about it---I am a tough girl when it comes to tha...

Hello I have Gordo and he's a tricky 7 year old chow. He's warmed up to us over the past eleven months and really trusts us now. But we've had very mixed experiences with Gordo socializing with other dogs. People have said to us before, "boy, he looks vicious.....he's showing teeth." When ...

when Gordo whines

Gordo whines a lot because he wants to get into the cat room and get at them..........he can see them through the baby gate. Most of the time i can tolerate it, but sometimes I just don't have it in me. At those times I say very very firmly "NO" and point my finger at him. I say it in such...
