Thanks everyone for the input. I have decided I will go ahead and shave him - appt scheduled for June 5th. I have started putting an anti-itch cream on the hot spots and he is leaving them alone for now. I'm sure all will be great. Thanks again.

This is awesome! Today is my first day on this website, wish I had known about this when I had my best friend, Sashema, who passed away October 17, 2000 at the age of 14. I will never forget her.

Right now I am back to feeding him the same food we started with that was fine for him the first 4 years of his life. The vet has been giving him cortisone shots along with 10 day supplies of prednisone (sp) and yes we apply lotions to it. And I was thinking of shaving him completely so he doesn't l...

To shave or not to shave

:? I have had chows for the last 19 years and am very leery when it comes to having them shaved as their hair never seems to grow back just righ. The chow I have now has been plagued with hot spots (3 since December) and the groomer (not the vet - he just keeps giving him shots and we keep changing ...
