Tinker - Chapter 3

TINKER TALES – Chapter 3 It was just any other ordinary night. Feed Tinker, eat our dinners together, watch some TV and take his royal highness out on his walk. At the time we lived in a standard track home that happened to be at the end of the street. It sat next to a fairly busy 4 lane road. I kep...

Tinker - Chapter 2

TINKER TALES – Chapter 2 Tinker went EVERYWHERE with us. I don’t mean an occasional trip here and there. I mean everywhere and that includes to work with me or Michelle each and every day. Well, besides going nuts when he’d hear my semi truck start (knowing he’s going somewhere fun with papa) and be...

Tinker - Chapter 1

We can't stop thinking about our son. We decided to write down some of his more humorous tales and it became 6 pages long. I set it up into the outline for a book we may write about Tinker. I thought I'd try out a new story each day on you guys (if you don't mind) and see what the results are. If th...

I would not even hesitate to introduce this vet to my 45. You couldn't imagine my rath if this happened to me. Being a christian would quickly take a back seat if anyone ever hurt my son. I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel and how big the hole is now. You are not alone. Michelle and I will say a prayer for you tonight. What an awful thing, to lose something as wonderful and God sent as a chow.

You know what? Finding this website has been such a blessing! I get to read about others and their funny stories. It brings back so many of these types of memories. Michelle and I still REALLY struggle with missing our Tinker. I mean, it's been tough. He was such a presence and so much involved in E...

You guys want to hear what lengths a trained chow owner goes to? We quickly found out Tinker was really scared of thunder. I tried all those dog trainer "tricks" to get him to at least not hide under the bed and shake in fear. That stuff didn't work with Wug-Wug. Here's what works, I know,...

My best wishes for your pops! When our Tinker was about 7 years old we tried to rescue a very friendly rottie. We started by taking them both on extremely long walks together. Using this as the introduction. You know, common ground and all. It went ok. Ok means as long as Tinker couldn't get near Ni...

Use to have similar problem. Found out IT WASNT THE ANIMAL but what the animal had been in and through. What could be ON your little one that's bothering you. Has he been through or peed on any plants or bushes outside that could be the culprit. Has a cat rubbed against him, perhaps a new or differe...

Here's my 2 cents. Tinker's ears never stood up. As he got older the floppy ears added to his "puppy look". Even at over 15 years old people ALWAYS asked....."how old is your puppy?" Now I know that some AKC show people would say that his ears were a bad trait and not breed stand...

Take it from a vetran chow-dude. Don't ever take that shadow for granted! Ever. It's been more than 3 months since our shadow has gone on ahead of us. I STILL use caution getting out of bed because I'm so use to not wanting to step on him. It brings me a sort of happiness reading your posts of how y...

Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, My beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Don't break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me things you would have me learn...

Tinker got use to the wheelchair kind of quickly. There's one problem though. Tinker's rear legs got wobbly at around 13 years old so we got the chair. You know how aloof and independent these guys are. When he was IN THE CHAIR, to get up off his tummy or to get forward motion, I'd have to put my fo...
