Re: Pet Insurance...what's your take?
I've got VPI & have had mixed results from claims. THey have paid out for everyone of Millie's UTI's (& there have been a few!) but declined for her entropion (genetic) They also declined Alf's leg surgery for the same reasons. However, having added up what they have paid out for v's what I ...

Re: eggs
I'm not sure if there is too many eggs a week for chows.... I'll be interested to hear if anyone knows. I'd guess that maybe too many is if they get an upset tummy?
However, I feed my two a couple of eggs a couple of times a week They love them!

Well Sab, you are going to be in Seattle... so you will have to wear a cycle helmet when riding a bike & no smoking within 25feet of building entrances!

I use http://www.chrissystems.com/iceonice1.htm It's good for Millie's dry fur & I like that the sunscreen in it helps keep Mr Alf black inthe summer.

Re: Any advise for a shy chow?
Both those websites are written & owned by people with a lot of rescue & chow experience. Chow's are one of a group of breeds that need a lot of socialization but done correctly, or it will overwhelm the puppy. Good luck with the classes, I take both mine to classes from time to time, mainly...

Re: Any advise for a shy chow?
You are really wise to want to socialise your shy chow as much as possible now. Shyness can easily turn into aggression as they get older. An adult chow should be aloof for sure, but always confident (often in their own greatness!) I second Jacqui's recommendation to get your pup into a group class ...

I believe that this FDA warning applies to all chicken jerky coming from China... I could be wrong though. Dogswell is made in China according to the bag I saw Tam.

Not always. Entropion can develop as a puppy after they come home, at an early age of even later in life. Also, it can redevelop after surgical correction... just an FYI

Re: Hannah has luxating patella
I'm so sorry to hear that Hannah has a ortho issue. I can only say from my experience with Alf, I was more concerned about the surgeons reputation than the cost. I took Alf to the specialist juvenile ortho surgeon in the area & he was worth every cent. Alf is doing great 1yr later & I'm sure...

The second kind I got was in a foil bag, also pricey, and had moon and stars on it. The name eludes me. They did much better on that one. Maybe 'barking at the moon' I am of a different mind than Karen when it comes to rude comments such as we saw. If a person cannot see how rude their comment was ...
