Re: chow-lab mix
use a large wire brush comb for the hair and as for nails you might have to train her using treats when you touch/ holding her feet.

Re: Apartments and Chows
Since the economy sucks now some apartments allow bigger dogs. call around and see. i know most places have restrictions on chows and pit bulls. try getting references including a vet. your dog looks like mine =)

Re: i hate squirrels!!
wow it is great to know that chows love squirrels. I thought mine had a strange obsession for them. She use to hop a 3 foot barrier and up the side of the backyard which is pretty steep. When she returned she would have tons of dirt in her paws.

Midnight use to hop like a rabbit when she was excited. She also use to wake my dad up every morning at 7-730am by jumping by his side of the bed and licking him. She cant do these things anymore because she is 15.

Tail not so curly anymore?
Midnight is a chow/ german shep mix. She has a full black tongue.I noticed a few years ago her tail has un-curled and has fully dropped. Is this normal with purebred chows? or maybe with chow mixes?

Re: Grooming between the toes
Hmm.. I use normal scissors and cut the hair from the bottom of the foot and around the toes. Cutting the hair on the bottom keeps little things from getting stuck in there.

Re: Losing clumps of fur from same spot on both legs
Is it the outer part of the dogs legs? If yes its normal. My dog has it all the time and i am not sure why. I just go there and pull out the clumps and go on my way.

ATTN Owners of senior chows.. i have a ?
Hi! I am so glad I found this board. I have a senior chow x shepherd named Midnight. She was adopted in dec 97 and was estimated to be about 2years old. She is now suppose to be about 15 or + 1 or 2 years. You know how people lie about dogs ages when they drop them off. I noticed the older Midnight ...
