In honor of my Marshall, I bought this domain, as well as the .net and .org and plan to use it for my own rescue. I'm not sure what my next move is, I guess file that 501 form and get legit. Anybody who wants to help, participate, etc is welcome to do so.

I just feel I haven't done much for the cause lately, and this is something I have thought about over the last year.

How wonderful. I could chip in. Do I just go to savingchows.org (or com)?

All I have done is get the domain. No site up yet, I need to find my old Web guy and see if he wants to set something up for me. He's in college and works for cheap. All I can do now is create email addy's. Need to gather some content and ideas for him to work with.

I got all three extensions (.org, .net, .com) and will point them to the same URL as soon as we get to that point.

For now, I'd like to open the discussion to form policies, terms, stuff. Any participation is welcomed and encouraged.

That domain name must have cost a few dollars finding a .com name in anything is almost impossible. the whole idea sounds good to me. Do you have alot of land for rescues?

I couldn't believe that it was available, and no, it wasn't that much, no more than the other two at least. I've spent more on wings and beer at a single sitting. I didn't get hosting yet, but that is no biggie.

No, I don't have much land at all. Just my yard, lol and that isn't that much. But every journey begins with a single step.

Good for you, Sean. Sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and follow your heart. Marshall would be so proud.

Sure, any help would be appreciated. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular right off, but should be written in something that is expandable, making it easy to grow with. A secure PHP site would work well.

Congratulations on finding all 3 available. Do you have any plans for them yet...rescue, foster, chow rescue networking, general chow information, just one site for everything. I think all aspects are important, just wasn't sure if you had one area you wanted to focus on?

Best of luck on the new site(s)...I can't wait to see them up and running.

I'm on the West side of Atl, by Smyrna/Austell.

Thanks everybody for the support, pm's, and emails. I'll get the proper paperwork filed and whatever else needs to be done to get legit as soon as possible. It may be helpful if I started a mailing list to better keep up with everybody, or keep it in this thread.

My initial thoughts are to first get of course legit by filing a 501 form, open a bank acct, then get an list of those wanting to help with whatever they can, website, policies, transports, etc. Probably start out just using it to help ones here that we come across, negotiate better vet rates for treatment, kenneling, and adoption fees.

I can create e-mail addresses with the domain, but thats about it. For those with web experience, we might want to have a pow-wow, or... bow-wow on what application it should be written in with regards to upgrading/expanding it in the future. Maybe start with a front page kinda thing with just general info and a mission statement, adoption policies, fostering, transport, contact info.
