Bought one, tried it, Pekoe didn't even look at me. I think a squirrel did look my way though.

I reckon you may have succes if your guys listen when you call. They work with my brother's dogs: when they are far away they hear it & come to him. My Millie? She may choose not to hear me when I'm next to her! Hot chicken though, works a treat

Dog whistles...you don't hear much about those anymore!
Because, most of our herding dogs were trained by whistle commands, we experimented with a "dog whistle".
We were not impressed with a dog whistle.
Obviously, our herders weren't either!
I don't know if it was because we couldn't hear it and got confused, or if it didn't work and confused the herders???

So, I learned to whistle like a good ole country girl, using my fingers up against my tongue to produce a good strong whistle that could be heard way across the holler!!

Oh me...  After writing this, I was curious if I could still whistle like that??? So, with fingers in my mouth, I whistled a suprisingly loud call...all three of my furkids jumped up out of their slumber and started barking and running back and forth from me to the windows!!!
It was hilarious!!!
