i was told he was a cinnamon... but most cinnamons i have seen are more red. Max is all brown with black highlights. so i don't know!Taz wrote:He is supposed to be Cream, but he is shedding now.Maxwell wrote:Taz your chow looks like he/she might be the same color as Max. Max is a weird color that i have never seen in a chow.
So he is more red than Cream.. What color is Max?
i really want a cream but if she does this, then i don't know!
Love that picture of Max!! Kodi does that each and every time, when we have our special play time every evening.

Such lovely chows, from all over the world.
Sorry I have not logged in for a week but my computer was down, would not switch on so my son had to fix it for me, I am going to now try and include the photos of my other three chows then you have seen them all.
This is a photo of Amour my cinnimon bitch, who shines like silver in the sun on a hot day, I love this color, so very pretty.
This is Alexander, now 10 years old and still keeping well, he was much younger when this photo was taken but has not changed a bit just grown older. I will send the photo of Denim in the nex few days when I can get a nice one of him as he wont keep still.

Hi Judy
Your millie and mabel are, more of a light red what we would call a golden in S.A. but they would be registered as Red, Cinnimon is a very different color, not a cream but almost cream and really no red in their coloring, and as I said their coats shine more like lilver in the sun, like the blue chows they are a very unusual color. I will find out more and let you know later on the colors of chows.

chow colouring.
The Chow varies greatly in colour; the most usual is Red, either as a solid colour or with lighter shadings on the trousers and tail. Many self red’s have shorter stand off coats. Becoming much more usual is the Black again either solid colour or with silver shadings on the trousers and tail. The Most unusual chow colours are Blue (a slatey grey like the colour of a blue Persian cat), which can have silver shadings on the tail and maybe even its mane, Fawn ( a silvery haze over brown) Fawns can vary from very pale to deep cinnamon, and Cream an attractive creamy colour with apricot colouring on the ears.
Hope this helps a little bit in knowing the correct colour of your precious Chow Chow,
I had a Cream years ago, and I would love to have another, but they are very far and few in this country and cost the earth if you find them.

Thank you Carolyn - I have wondered as Milly and Mabel are registered as Red.
What I would love is a black boy chowling for Milly and Mabel to be Mummies to. I would love to see them with another puppy. When Hector came to live with us he was only six weeks old and he was absolutely gorgeous and they really wanted him. We had to watch them for a few days until he felt his feet, so to speak as they wanted to take him off to their beds and we were afraid of them sitting on him!
They challenged Rhiannon, our daughter for the "Mummyhood" of Hector but within a few days he was holding his own, as Schnauzers will.
Lou's Zhuyo is a cream and a very handsome fellow as are Monica's Frodo and Miss Baby Kira.
