Strange rash around eyes

Hi everyone,
My 1 year old male chow chow has developed a reddish rash around his eyes. I took a picture of it.
So far, I’ve been cleaning it out with a soft tissue dipped in lukewarm water which seems to help and he doesn’t seem to suffer from it.
Nevertheless, before rushing off to the vet, I wanted to see whether anyone experienced this before and if it went away by itself again? It’s also high summer here so could this be allergy driven (although it is only like this around his right eye)?
