Specific Brushes or Combs?
Hi Everyone,
I’m a new user to the forum.
My fiance and I have a loveable 10-month old chow, and he’s starting to shed his undercoat/puppy fur.
I’m looking to help him out before he get’s groomed so he’s used to the brushing, and I have a slicker, comb brush, but was looking to find out if anyone recommends a certain brush to help with shedding issues.
My vacuum cleaner is probably hating him right now! Lol.
Thanks to any response!
Jeff

Re: Specific Brushes or Combs?
I only ever use(d) a comb, pin brush, and slicker on my mix with more chow like coat (and my purebred girl).
I have a furminator, but truly hate it. The only reason it ever gets used is because my mix girl has such silky fur, the other brushes just slide right through it and doesn't get the loose hair out. But the furminator gets out of it out.
I feel that the furminator pulls too much coat out of my mix boy (my purebred girl) and my pom. I've found the slicker to be better for them and use it everyday/every other day and it gets the job done.

Re: Specific Brushes or Combs?
Rake, i would recommend a rake, particularly for the rear of your dog. But use with some discretion as it can remove a good amount of fur.

I agree with Rory's dad that about a rake, try to find one that has 2 rows if possible though. A rake will take out loose fur. Here is a picture of what I use on Brutus. Hope it helps you.

I usually use a comb when my dog is wet, and I use a brush when the dog is dry.
