Malting/Shedding/Blowing
Hi all,
My boy will be 10 months this month and it is going into Autumn (Fall) here, still not cold, or even cool really, but there is a slight change in temperature. Anyway the last few days Hugo has been losing quite alot of fur. Just wandering if it is a seasonal thing or an age related thing. I wouldn't have thought he'd shed until the end of the year, being Summer, not going into the cooler months. There are no other health issues, he has a superb coat, very thick and shiny.
Thanks
Happy Easter
Michelle (Australia)

Arhhh thank you LOL
Winston has been dropping fur like you wouldnt belive, and he's a smooth chow, feel sorry for the rough chow. Even now we are still vacuming every couple days, hair hair everwhere. He's down to his top coat abd alomst no undercoat, gez he's looking skinny as well.
Was researching this last night and the americans were doing teh same stuff in their Autumn, see http://forum.chowchow.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=12330
Brushing Winston with a furimator a few weeks ago. It was falling out in huge clumps the size of a finger etc.

Hi Swerve,
Thanks for the link. How weird that they drop before Winter. So will Hugo be even fluffier than he has been when he gets his WInter jacket?
He is happy and healthy and that is the main thing.
Any plans for Easter?
Michelle

Re: Malting/Shedding/Blowing
He is probably blowing the rest of his puppy coat. Nothing to worry about, just keep him brushed. He will grow in his winter coat in time.
Thanks SweetPea!
