Biting problem

I am having a problem with my beautiful boy Bear. He is 3.5 years old and bites. The last time he bit was Easter when my grand-daughter came in the house yelling for me and he was sleeping. Fortunately she did not require stitches and she is not afraid of him still. How do I help him with this behavior.
