Birthdays
Since some of us are newer to the boards than the others, I thought it would be nice if everyone gave a date (or estimated date for those of us who aren't sure) of our chow's birthdays so all of us have an idea when to celebrate. Koda was 8 weeks old when we got him on Nov. 17th (the breeder couldn't remember the exact date Ashley said... so much for a caring breeder) so we are going with September 15th as Koda's birthday. Just an idea so everyone can keep on top of the chowdren's birthdays.

Both Darkwind and Firesong came from WestTexas ChowChow rescue so I don't have actual birthdays for them, So I chose days that were close to the date they were rescued and that I could remember.
Darkwind--April 15th, (tax day in the US) and Firesong, Feb 14th. Darkwind will be 6 and Firesong just turned 4.

Nancy, what a wonderful idea! Okay....Max-A-Million was about 7 or 8 months old when he adopted us on October 27, 2004, so we celebrate February 27th as his birthday. Mahayana was 4 years old when she adopted us on April 27th, so that became her birthday. We know nothing about Mei-Mei, so March 27th (the month between February and April) is her birthday.
Thanks for the great idea!
Took Mei-Mei to the vet for her annual rabies shot 9/14. Last year when I captured her it was difficult for the vet to determine her age (she wouldn't open her mouth and didn't want to be touched)and he determined her age at 3-4 years old. She was sooooo good this time, and the vet determined that her age is actually about 6 or 6 1/2 because of her teeth and grey beard! Wow, she acts like a 3 year old!

Basically, yes I do!!
Every time a birthday comes up, I put it on my calendar in the kitchen and Fred flies the appropriate flag. These Chow Chows are so precious, they need their birthday or anniversary day celebrating.
Sophie would need lots of days wouldn't she - the first day she ate food, the first day she ate food on the deck, the first day she went into the house, the first day she allowed herself to be touched................

ROFL then I nominate Judy as keeper of the birthdays. A couple of days before one of our furkids has their big day, Judy could post it in General discussions so everyone would see it (especially me since I over look this part way too often) and then we can celebrate together. Just an idea. LOL {{{{HUGS}}}} Judy

Well these dates have already been put on the calendar with the appropriate coountry in order that Fred and Milly and Mabel can hoist the national flag for each chow.
It is a great deal of fun and he has many flags. He has the Tennessee State Flag to hoist for Susan's Herd and for Michael's Gwrol and the Californian Golden Bear for Zhuyo and Miss Pooh Bear.
We have still to buy an Australian one for Brisco and Dixie and a Norwegian one for Diego!
A picture of Fred and M & M hoisting the Canadian flag for Pumpkin's birthday, when she was alive.
and one of Fred and Milly hoisting the Vatican Flag - probably for the Pope's birthday or one of the Holy Days.
M & M almost always go with him to hoist or haul down the flag.
