hello from Pumpkin's mom

Post by joanna »

Hello all,

It's been ages since I posted, not since HRH Princess Pumpkin passed away in the fall. I just wanted to say hi to everyone and all of Pumpkin's friends, especially Zhuyo and PB and Dakota and M&M and all the others I'm missing!

I hope all of you and your chows are well and happy!

Pumpkin

Speaking of Pumpkin I swear that Chow is haunting me. A day hasn't gone by that I havn't thought about her, I have mentioned her in a few of my post.
Nice to see you back Joanna.

Thanks for the welcome back everyone... I've wanted to post for a while, but it's been too sad to come back to the site. Losing Pumpkin was awful and has been a slow recovery. As some of you know, I am in the process of relocating to the UK and once settled there I may start the process of looking for a chow to rescue.

Jeff - I always thought Pekoe and Ms. Princess Pumpkin were long lost relatives, they had similar attitudes if I remember correctly :)

Please give all your chows extra kisses and hugs... I sure wish I had my baby back to do the same!

Hi Roxana,

Good to hear from you, I wondered how you and Dakota were doing. I'm doing well, still missing Ms. Pumpkin desperately, but I guess it's easier now than it was. I became a cat foster parent around Christmas and I've had four so far, a mom and daughter, and two brothers, all of who have been adopted by great families. It's not quite the same as having that big red difficult ball of fur to hug and kiss, but it's a start.

Hope you're surviving the Edmonton winter :)

kisses for Dakota

Chows in general

:( So sad to hear about pumpkin, I also sadly lost my Sezar just before Vhristmas, due to a snake bite, I was heart broken and my girls Tanya and Christal morned for quite a while after his passing, I really thought that Tanya would follow him but she has thankfully recovered she is now nearly 10 years old, and a very special little Chow Chow. I do wish you well and hope you find a new chow to replace you pumpkin, by the way my Zena is pregnant again this is her third litter and I will be sending one of the puppies to Namibia, I do hope all goes well
Bless you all and thank you for a wonderfull site.

Joanna,

We are doing great. As you may know, Dakota lost her sight sometime around November. She has had a few months to adjust to being blind now and she is doing alright. Somedays she is like the old Dakota and other days.....well not so much. She sleeps an awful lot now, however I dont know if thats due to her blindness or her age (she just turned 12!)

Anyway, I do hope you keep in touch and maybe after you've settled in in the UK you can think about looking for a Chow.

As for winter, its almost over (fingers crossed) We just got back from 2 weeks in Maui and all the snow is gone!

Take care of yourself Joanna,
Roxana & Dakota

Hi Joanna & all my old pals

Post by Monica »

Joanna: I just rejoined today, and am delighted to find you here. I sent you an email when I heard about Pumpkin, but I think I had a very old email address. I was so shocked and saddened by your loss. Pumpkin & her antics meant a lot to so many of us.

I'm still involved with Chow Rescue Ontario, working with Judy. Anita, & Laurie. That takes up so much of my spare time, that I've lost my connection to "Chow chat". Don't know if I'll get used to this new format.

Frodo (3 1/2) and Kira (2) are great companions, but I'm having an awful time with Frodo's coat this winter. He has big bare patches from licking & chewing. What a mess. I've changed his food to an allergy formula and am giving him Solid Gold "Seameal" supplement. If things don't improve soon, he's going to have to see the vet. I've been trying to avoid meds & shaving...

My best regards to all. I will try to log-in more often. I miss all of you.
